The problem with rich people (or, more properly high income earners) is that there aren't enough of them. Upper-income taxpayers are already paying around double their fair (pro rata) share of federal income taxes on the average, and there simply aren't enough dollars at the high end to pay for the Democrats' spending spree, even if the Dems try to steal them all. THE ONLY WAY TO BALANCE THE BUDGET THROUGH TAX INCREASES IS BY GOING WHERE MOST OF THE MONEY IS--THE $50,000 TO $500,000 ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME RANGE.

More Politicalization at the Holder DOJ

….Last Thursday I reported on an interview I conducted with a top DOJ official who said that THE PENDING INDICTMENTS OF SEVERAL PROMINENT LEADERS OF ISLAMIC ORGANIZATIONS CLOSE TO THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION, including one of the co-founders of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Omar Ahmad, on charges of material support for the terrorist group Hamas WERE SCUTTLED TO AVOID EMBARRASSING THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION AND TO AVOID INFLAMING THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY. My source cited a March 31, 2010, internal DOJ memo from Assistant Attorney General David Kris to Acting Deputy Attorney General Gary Grindler effectively dropping the prosecution of Ahmad.

When I contacted the Department of Justice National Security Division, public affairs representative Dean Boyd refused to provide me a copy of the memo and declined to comment on the matter. Boyd directed me to submit a FOIA for the information.

But now House Homeland Security Committee chairman REP. PETER KING (R-NY) HAS SENT A LETTER TO ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER INQUIRING ABOUT THE DETAILS OF OUR REPORT. In the letter dated Friday, April 15, King asks for Holder’s reasons for dropping these terror finance prosecutions.

In his letter, he goes beyond my own reporting and states that THE DOJ DECISION WAS MADE:

…OVER THE VEHEMENT AND STATED OBJECTIONS OF SPECIAL AGENTS AND SUPERVISORS OF THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, AS WELL AS THE PROSECUTORS AT THE U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE IN DALLAS, who had investigated and successfully prosecuted the Holy Land Foundation case….

….That’s right. The excuse they are currently floating to their friends in the establishment media to explain the decision not to prosecute CAIR officials and the other Islamic leaders implicated in the Holy Land Foundation case (all of whom had been named unindicted co-conspirators) is that THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION CHOSE NOT TO PROSECUTE THEM IN 2004 AND THEY WERE JUST REAFFIRMING WHAT JOHN ASHCROFT HAD DECIDED WAY BACK WHEN.

The President's mother, Ann Dunham and father, Barack Obama, Sr., supposedly met in a Russian language class at the University of Hawaii. The time was late September, 1960. For the official birth date of August 4, 1961 to work, and assuming that Ann carried her baby for a full term, she would have to have been impregnated sometime in mid November, 1960….

In his anti-Paul Ryan speech last week, President Obama accused the congressman of seeking to make “kids with disabilities. . . . fend for themselves.” WHAT’S THE THEORY HERE? THAT PEOPLE ARE SO SYMPATHETIC TO DISABLED KIDS THAT USING THEM TO ATTACK THE PLAN WILL CHANGE PUBLIC OPINION, BUT SO UNSYMPATHETIC THAT THEY’LL BE THE FIRST ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK when state governments make Medicaid-budgeting decisions?

….As Michael Crowley notes, liberals have rational grounds to reject the Ryan plan. Of course they prefer an alternative with more taxes and more spending. But WE’RE STILL, MOSTLY, IN THE CHEAP-SHOT AND WEAK-LOGIC STAGE OF THIS DEBATE.

CNN Poll: Support for increased offshore oil drilling on rise

One year after the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, SUPPORT FOR OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING HAS REBOUNDED DESPITE CONCERNS THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CANNOT PREVENT ANOTHER MASSIVE OIL SPILL, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Tuesday indicates that 69 PERCENT OF AMERICANS FAVOR INCREASED OFFSHORE DRILLING, WITH JUST OVER THREE IN TEN OPPOSED. That 69 percent is up 20 points from last June, while the oil spill was still in progress, and is back to the level of support seen in the summer of 2008.

Disclosure Delayed Is Justice Denied

The judge who threw out Prop 8 should have been disqualified.

Two weeks ago, former federal district judge VAUGHN WALKER, WHO RULED LAST SUMMER IN PERRY V. A straightforward application of the judicial ethics rules compels the conclusion that Walker should have recused himself from taking part in the Perry case. Further, under well-established Supreme Court precedent, the remedy of vacating Walker’s judgment is timely and necessary.

Obama’s approval among Hispanic at all time low

In the week of April 11-17, Gallup reported, ONLY 47 PERCENT OF HISPANICS SAID THEY APPROVED OF THE JOB OBAMA WAS DOING AS PRESIDENT.

This was only the third week during Obama’s presidency that his job approval among his Hispanics has been lower than 50 percent. The previous two occasions were Sept. 20-26, 2010, when Obama’s approval dropped to 49 percent among Hispanics, and the week of July 26-Aug.1, 2010, when it dropped to 48 percent.

Obama charges Chamber of Commerce with using foreign funds in campaign without any proof.

Unprecedented?

What may be coming is certainly unprecedented in modern politics.

Gallup just released its weekly “generic” poll, and for the second
week in a row it is forecasting a colossal wipeout for Democrats — with likely
voters voting Republican by a margin between 12 and 17 points. Rasmussen, widely and unfairly considered biased towards Republicans, has shown a markedly smaller Republican lead, but this week its likely-voter number has Republicans besting Democrats by 8 percent. Meanwhile, statewide and district-wide polls suggest that a minor surge by Democrats at the end of September seems either to have evaporated or was never all that real in the first place.

The potential for a GOP landslide has been much-discussed. One thing
that has been less noted is the extraordinarily DRAMATIC NATURE OF THE VOTER TURNAROUND HERE……

An 8-t0-15 point Republican margin in 2010, which seems
increasingly possible, will represent a partisan and ideological turnaround of
15 to 24 percent. That is without precedent in the modern era. At the
presidential level, Ronald Reagan’s victory over Jimmy Carter in 1980 was a
landslide but still featured a shift away from Carter of 11 points among the
electorate (Carter dropped from 51 percent in 1976 to 40 percent).

In 1967 the movie, A Guide for the Married Man came out. They had one scene where a man was caught in bed with another woman by his wife. HE SIMPLY DENIED IT EVER HAPPENED and after enough time, the wife began to believe it was a hallucination. It appears Paul Krugman is trying the same technique.

Here’s the narrative you hear everywhere: President Obama has presided over
a huge expansion of government, but unemployment has remained high. And this
proves that government spending can’t create jobs.

Some of your Democrat candidates aren’t rocket scientist and show it by calling for a boycott of your own state. AZ7 is listed by RCP as a “safe” seat for the Democrats.

election season.

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) characterized the midterm elections as a life-and-death struggle in a speech Sunday afternoon. "The choice is clear, you've got to go to the polls," Rendell said during a warm-up address at a large rally in Philadelphia ahead of appearances by President Obama and Vice President Biden.

"What's the best way to prevent [Republicans] from tearing down the president? It's a four-letter word," the governor said. "Vote like your life depends on it -- because, you know, it just might."

all the stops to try and maintain the party’s majority, including what may be
one of the most brutal campaign ads of the 2010 election cycle.

In a campaign attack ad aimed at Jeff Perry, the GOP candidate
hoping to fill Democratic Rep. Bill Delahunt‘s seat in Massachusetts’ 10th
Congressional District, the DCCC links Perry to a fellow former police officer
who conducted illegal strip searches of female teenage suspects in the
mid-1990s. Perry was the supervising officer on Wareham police force when a
subordinate officer committed the crime.

Shutting Up Business

Democrats unleash the IRS and Justice on donors to their political opponents.

If at first you don't succeed, get some friends in high places to shut
your opponents up. That's the latest Washington power play, as Democrats and
liberals attack the Chamber of Commerce and independent spending groups in an
attempt to stop businesses from participating in politics.
Since the Supreme Court's January decision in Citizens United v. FEC, Democrats in Congress have been

TRYING TO PASS LEGISLATION TO REPEAL THE FIRST AMENDMENT FOR BUSINESS, though not for unions. Having failed on that score, they're now turning to legal and political threats. Funny how all of this outrage never surfaced when the likes of Peter Lewis of Progressive insurance and George Soros helped to make Democrats financially dominant in 2006 and 2008.

Chairman Max Baucus of the powerful Senate Finance Committee got
the threats going last month when he asked Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Douglas Shulman to investigate if certain tax exempt 501(c) groups had violated the law by engaging in too much political campaign activity. Lest there be any confusion about his targets, the Montana Democrat flagged articles focused on GOP-leaning groups, including Americans for Job Security and American Crossroads.

Whose to Blame?

It’s interesting to watch was it being said online. This past summer I saw more and more generic polling indicating the Republicans were way ahead of the Democrats. I’m now seeing more and more articles trying to determine what happened to the Democrats and who’s to blame for what looks like will be happening in November.

Occasionally you see article talking about how it might not be so bad for the Democrats, but if you are following this closely you know it’s pretty well over for them. What we are really waiting to see is just how big the Republican wave will be. As Michael Barone asked, will it be 1994 again (Democrats lost 54 seats) or 1894 again (Democrats lost 100 seats).

An important fact is that every time there has been a major shift in the House of Representatives, the Senate has also been lost by the ruling party. Not good news for the Democrats in the Senate who figured to sail by this year.

Do we have a tax problem or a spending problem?

According to Congressional Budget Office (CBO) data, extending the tax cuts on top earners would create a budget shortfall of $700 billion over ten years. That’s $70 billion a year. Meanwhile, extending the tax cuts on the middle class would create a budget shortfall of $3,000 billion over ten years.

Now, thinking like a government official, this means that extending the tax cuts would “cost” the government $3.7 trillion over ten years. This sounds like a lot of money, but let’s put it in perspective and look at how much the federal government will be spending over the course of the next ten years.

University of Maryland who studies voting and immigration policy.

"Rather, they rank education, jobs and health care as their top
three issues of concern for this year's congressional campaign. Immigration
ranks as the fifth most important issue for Latino registered voters," said Mark

abusers, mob-linked, eccentric flakes, sexual molesters and absentee
officeholders (all actual charges against key GOP candidates). While these ads
may chip away at the Republican vote share in the polls, they do nothing
to generate a Democratic turnout.

The Democrats are without a theme, a message or a positive reason
to go vote. Negative ads are supposed to depress turnout — the
last thing Democrats need. But when they come up against Republican enthusiasm, they may not do much to check the GOP rise.

Why are the Democrats not as enthusiastic as the Republicans

Here’s an interesting look at the lack of Democrat enthusiasm. I noticed at the One Nation Rally that parts of the demonstrators were demonstrating against Obama. This article explains it.

So why are Democrats less enthusiastic? And why has "the progressive
donor base," as Democratic consultant Jim Jordans reports, "stopped writing
checks"?

I don't think it's just because the economy remains sour or that
President Obama failed to jam a public option in the health care bill.

I find a more convincing explanation in an offhand phrase in a
subordinate clause in a brief article by Adam Serwer of the Center for American
Progress on the Washington Post's opinion pages. "There's no question," Serwer
writes, defying anyone to disagree, "that Obama has completely reversed on his
promises to roll back Bush-era national security policies."

For it is not economics but foreign policy that has motivated the
left half of the Democratic Party over the last decade.

What went wrong for the Democrats?

This is a pretty interesting article. I highly recommend it.

Obama was elected as the corrective to the Bush years. Yet when you're
the winner, the temptation is always there to see yourself as something more
than just an alternative -- something larger, like a paradigm-changer or a
transformational political figure. And Obama wanted nothing less than a change
from conservatism to his own brand of 21st century activism.

"When you win an election," says political scientist Bill Galston, "you are always
inclined to believe you won for the reasons you wanted to win."

In other words, you believe you won for the big stuff, not just because the voters didn't like the other guy.

...... Maybe he overestimated his personal capacity and appeal. Or his mandate. Or the extent to which the nation is actually divided on both principle and policy. Some, including his own pollster, according to knowledgeable sources, counseled caution. People wanted the president to focus on the economy, some told the president: Don't go for it all now.

But he did, precisely because he was riding high, ready to use his political capital.

Private sector sheds 39,000 jobs in September

More disasterous news for the Democrats.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Private employers unexpectedly cut 39,000 jobs
in September after an upwardly revised gain of 10,000 in August, a report by a
payrolls processor showed on Wednesday.

The August figure was originally reported as a loss of 10,000.

The median of estimates from 38 economists surveyed by Reuters for
the ADP Employer Services report, jointly developed with Macroeconomic Advisers LLC, was for a rise of 24,000 private-sector jobs in September.

Minnesota Congressional Race Gets Profane

Democratic Minnesota congressional candidate and state Sen. Tarryl Clark
released a provocative video on her campaign Web site today, one including a few
choice words for her opponent, incumbent GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann. The spot's voice-over accuses Bachmann of standing up for "special interests" in Washington and backing BP during the fallout over the Gulf Coast oil spill, while
concluding that she's "not doing @#%! for the people of the Sixth District."
(The presumed expletive is bleeped out.)

This is a sure sign of desperation. You’ll hear more of this as we get closer to November 2.

Panel: Gov't thwarted worst-case scenario on spill

Incompetence on display

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration blocked efforts by government scientists to tell the public just how bad the Gulf oil spill could become and made other missteps that raised questions about its competence and candor during the crisis, according to a commission appointed by the president to investigate the disaster.

In documents released Wednesday, the national oil spill commission's staff describes "not an incidental public relations problem" by the White House in the wake of the April 20 accident.
Among other things, the report says, the administration made erroneous early estimates of the spill's size, and President Barack Obama's senior energy adviser went on national TV and mischaracterized a government analysis by saying it showed most of the oil was "gone." The analysis actually said it could still be there.

"By initially underestimating the amount of oil flow and then, at the end of the summer, appearing to underestimate the amount of oil remaining in the Gulf, the federal government created the impression that it was either not fully competent to handle the spill or not fully candid with the American people about the scope of the problem," the report says.
