Why Obama will lose

AAA second term plan

Gallup:  Obama’s approval drops 7 points in 4 days

It appears Benghazi may be having an effect.

Barone on the record:  Romney will win

Going on the record with 11 days to go, Michael Barone picked Mitt Romney as the winner of the coming election.

Michael Goodwin explains why he’s voting for Romney this time

Where he totally fooled me was his claim to be a pragmatist, not an ideologue. He spoke of uniting the country and I believed he was capable and sincere. That he won 70 million votes and more than two-thirds of the Electoral College spoke to his appeal.

He failed as president because he is incompetent, dishonest and not interested in the actual work of governing. His statist policies helped consign millions of Americans to a lower standard of living and his odious class warfare further divided the nation. He had no intention of uniting the country — it was his Big Lie.

I don’t hate him. But I sure as hell don’t trust him.

US Government spent $60K per household in poverty

New data compiled by the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee shows that, last year, the United States spent over $60,000 to support welfare programs per each household that is in poverty. The calculations are based on data from the Census, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Congressional Research Services.

"According to the Census’s American Community Survey, the number of households with incomes below the poverty line in 2011 was 16,807,795," the Senate Budget Committee notes. "If you divide total federal and state spending by the number of households with incomes below the poverty line, the average spending per household in poverty was $61,194 in 2011."

What we now know about Benghazi

We’ve not been told the truth by the Obama Administration, but leaks have sprung up.

Luckily, their "firewall" -- blaming the tragedy on a hapless producer of a video trailer, the CIA, and lower level State Department officials -- seem (as one might have predicted, and I did), to result in numerous leaks to the press, undercutting that pack of lies.

The Truth about bin Laden, Al Qaeda, and GM

Joe Biden likes to tell people, “Bin Laden’s dead and GM’s alive” to tout the Obama Administrations greatest successes.  If only that were true.  The truth is Bin Laden is a martyr, GM is dying and Al Qaeda is alive.

NY Times endorse Barack Obama

The NY Times endorsed Barack Obama for the second time.  Of course the last Republican the Times endorsed was Dwight Eisenhower.

“Wear a re-elect Obama button and go out as a journalist”

A sign Obama will lose

When all else fails tear down the other guy.  When that doesn’t work, enlist children to do the same.  This video is just creepy and shows how desperate the left is.

Another sign Obama will lose

On election night 2008 Grant Park was thronged with Obama supporters waiting to see their man emerge on the specially-built stage at the south end of huge lakefront park to bask in his historic victory.  Not so this year.  This year Obama will be in McCormick Place.

The only realistic way of reaching McCormick Place is by taxi (or car, if people drive themselves) this is clearly not a place Obama would be holding an election night event if he really thought he was going to win the election. How on Earth would his throngs of supporters be able to reach him if he won and the event was held here of all places?

Lena Dunham:  Your first time parody ad

Stupid ads are bound to generate parodies.  This one is pretty good.

Where are the green jobs?

There was that time that Obama got roughly $90 billion for green energy jobs, or green energy “investments,” as he calls them, which were touted to save us billions of dollars in imported oil and create 5 million green energy jobs.

“The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 set aside $90 billion in renewable energy grants and loans for a grab bag of thousands of projects—wind farms, solar installations, natural gas fueling stations, biofuel research, and a $5 billion weatherization project for low-income homes,” reports BusinessWeek.com.   “Digging into the public records of the $21 billion spent so far through 19 U.S. Department of Energy programs reveals 3,960 projects that employ 28,854 people.”
Only 4,971,146 jobs left to go!

Four more years? No, at that rate it would take 693 years for Obama to create 5 million green energy jobs at the rate he created them over the first four years. And at the current cost, Obama would have to spend $3.6 trillion just to create those jobs.

How wrong can one man be before he gets fired?  Well seen in just over a week.

Private Sector is doing Fine????

What’s New Today

Story #1 looks at Obama’s House of Cards.  #2 tells you what a green job is in Obama’s America.  #3 talks about how Obama is killing the Democratic Party.  In another bad sign for Obama #4 relates how Romney outraised Obama in May.  #5 has Obama declaring the private sector is doing fine.  #6 has a large majority of Americans wanting to see Obamacare declared unconstitutional.

Today’s Thoughts

“Although it (Global Warming) maintains a claim to being based on science, its relation to genuine, evidence based, logically consistent, refutable science is not unlike that of Scientology, with which it shares a number of commonalities.” ~Walter Starck

Obama told a San Francisco fund raising audience, “It’s Still about Hope and Change.”  Well that is true for the Republicans this election.

Excuses seem to be the name of the game for liberals. For Obama it’s Bush’s fault, Europe’s fault, Technology’s fault, etc.  And the new all-purpose excuse is Citizen United.

1.  Obama’s House of Cards

…President Obama's problem now isn't what Wisconsin did, it's how he looks each day—careening around, always in flight, a superfluous figure. NO ONE EVEN LOOKS TO HIM FOR LEADERSHIP NOW. He doesn't go to Wisconsin, where the fight is. He goes to Sarah Jessica Parker's place, where the money is.

There is, now, a house-of-cards feel about this administration.

It became apparent some weeks ago when the president talked on the stump—where else?—about an essay by a fellow who said spending growth is actually lower than that of previous presidents. This was startling to a lot of people, who looked into it and found the man had left out most spending from 2009, the first year of Mr. Obama's presidency. People sneered: The president was deliberately using a misleading argument to paint a false picture! But you know, why would he go out there waving an article that could immediately be debunked? Maybe because he thought it was true. That's more alarming, isn't it, the idea that he knows so little about the effects of his own economic program that he thinks he really is a low spender.

For more than a month, his people have been laying down the line that America was just about to enter full economic recovery when the European meltdown stopped it. (I guess the slowdown in China didn't poll well.) You'll be hearing more of this—we almost had it, and then Spain, or Italy, messed everything up. What's bothersome is not that it's just a line, but that the White House sees its central economic contribution now as the making up of lines.

Any president will, in a presidential election year, be political. But there is a startling sense with Mr. Obama that that's all he is now, that he and his people are all politics, all the time, undeviatingly, on every issue. He isn't even trying to lead, he's just trying to win. …

Peggy Noonan has a way with a phrase that connects the reader with the truth of what she is saying.  The House of Cards is falling down.

2.  What’s a green Job in Obama’s America?

As Stalin once said, “It’s not the people who vote that count, but the people who count the votes.”  It appears Obama has his own version of that.  I’ll bet you didn’t know your garbage man was holding a green job.

3.  Obama is killing the Democratic Party

President Obama, I have frequently argued, has been fabulous for the conservative movement. He spurred the creation of the tea party. He helped the GOP win the House majority in 2010 and make big gains in the Senate. His Obamacare has helped revive the Commerce Clause and given a boost to conservative jurisprudence. His refusal to support human rights has caused a bipartisan revulsion and reminded us that foreign policy must be girded by American values. He’s sent independents running into the GOP’s arms. He’s forced conservatives to think hard and express eloquently principles of religious liberty, limited government, free markets and Constitutional democracy.

Obama also has wreaked havoc in the Democratic Party. He’s firmly affixed the “tax and spend” label to it after Bill Clinton declared that the era of big government was over. He’s made Clinton into a pitch man for Mitt Romney. His rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline has split the party. His refusal to adopt the Simpson-Bowles commission’s recommendations has turned Democrats into reactionaries, defending the status quo on entitlements. He’s alienated Jewish voters. He’s re-McGovernized the party, which now stands for appeasing despotic powers, turning on allies and slashing defense spending.
As Ross Douthat wrote,  “House Republicans have spent the past two years taking tough votes on entitlement reform, preparing themselves for an ambitious offensive should 2012 deliver the opportunity to cast those same votes and have them count. The Senate Democrats, on the other hand, have failed to even pass a budget: There is no Democratic equivalent of Paul Ryan’s fiscal blueprint, no Democratic plan to swallow hard and raise middle class taxes the way Republicans look poised to swallow hard and overhaul Medicare. Indeed, there’s no liberal agenda to speak of at the moment, beyond a resounding ‘No!’ to whatever conservatism intends to do.”…

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/post/obama-is-killing-the-democratic-party/2012/06/06/gJQAGCVlJV_blog.html

So in reality, it is the Democrats who are the party of no.  No to anything the conservative want to do.  No to solving any of the problems that we know are just around the corner and No to providing an alternative to the status quo.  Far from progressive, the Democrats are reactionaries.

4.  Romney Out-Raises Obama in May

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and Republican groups raised more than $76.8 million in May, his campaign said on Thursday, topping the $60 million President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies hauled in.

The campaign and Republican National Committee have $107 million cash on hand, the campaign said.

Another bad sign for the Democrats.

5.  Obama:  “The Private Sector is doing fine.”

Question: What about the Republicans saying that you're blaming the Europeans for the failures of your own policies?

President Obama: The truth of the matter is that, as I said, we created 4.3 million jobs over the last 27 months, over 800,000 just this year alone.

The private sector is doing fine. Where we're seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. Oftentimes cuts initiated by, you know, Governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don't have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in….

Actually that isn’t true (either the private sector is doing fine or that he’s created over 800,000 this year).  The actual number is 759,000 broken down this way January 243,000, February 227,000, March 143,000, April 77,000, May 69,000.  It appears Obama’s writers didn’t see that the job figures for both March and April were revised downward. And for Obama to say the private sector is doing fine makes you wonder has any president ever been this out of touch?

6. New Poll: The Supreme Court and Obamacare

More than two-thirds of Americans hope the Supreme Court will overturn some or all of the 2010 health care law, according to a new poll conducted by The New York Times and CBS News. Just 24 percent said they hoped the court “would keep the entire health care law in place.”

The Supreme Court is expected to decide a challenge to the law by the end of this month.

Forty-one percent of those surveyed said the court should strike down the entire law, and another 27 percent said the justices should overturn only the individual mandate, which requires most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty.

These numbers have not changed much in recent months and appeared to be largely unaffected by the more than six hours of arguments in the Supreme Court in March.

There was greater Republican opposition to the law than Democratic support. About two-thirds of Republicans in the recent survey said the entire law should be overturned, while 43 percent of Democrats said all of the law should be upheld.

More than 70 percent of independent voters said they wanted to see some or all of the law struck down, with a majority saying they hoped to see the whole law overturned. Twenty-two percent of independents said they hoped the entire law would survive.

If you are a supporter of the law and wonder why Obama is not making an issue out of it in the campaign read the column again.  Not even a majority of Democrats want to see the law upheld.

Obama off to a bad start

What’s new Today

Story #1 looks at the latest Rasmussen generic Republican vs Democrat and finds the difference +10% for the Republicans.  #2 is a demonstration of the desperation in the Obama camp.  #3 has the third straight poll that has Romney ahead of Obama.  #4 is a reminder of how many things have gone wrong for the president.  It seems the hope and change of 2008 looks like a farce from the view of 2012.  #5 talks about Obama’s likeability.  The question is whether it will hold up after a few months of negative campaigning.  I don’t think it will.  #6 is a list of the green job promise that Obama has failed to deliver on.

Today’s thoughts

Why has Harry Reid not been able to bring a budget to the floor of the Senate for over 1000 days yet he can find time to bring the Buffet Rule to a vote even though no one expects it to pass?

Dick Cheney hasn’t had a change of heart regarding Barack Obama.  He sees a second term for Obama as a disaster for the United States.

How has been a greater embarrassment to the United States?  James Hansen acting like a hooker for climate change or the Secret Service Officers who hired the hookers in Colombia?

Geithner’s comments that Obama’s economic policies have been “remarkably successful” reminds me of the old joke, “Other than that, how did you like the play Mrs. Lincoln?”

1.  Generic Congressional Poll

Republicans, as they have for nearly three years now, continue to lead Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot, this time for the week ending Sunday, April 15.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 46% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Republican in their district’s congressional race if the election were held today, while 36% would choose the Democrat instead. This is the largest gap between the two parties since the beginning of 2011. It also doubles the gap found a week ago when the Republican led by five points, 45% to 40%...

This is probably an outlier, but it certainly reinforces the 5-6 percentage point lead by the Republicans as being accurate.  This is not good news for the Democrats.

2.   Lefties try to crash Romney event

Progressive activists stormed the Franklin Institute this evening. They clashed with tea-party organizer Don Adams, who blocked them from entering. It was a wild, tense scene, just minutes before Mitt Romney appeared here. Adams, who is the man at the door in this video of the incident, tells NRO that the “nasty” exchange is an example of what Romney will face this fall.

Lefties always seem extreme, but this seems to indicate a sense desperation.

3.  And perhaps this is the reason for Desperation

The first Gallup tracking poll shows that Mitt Romney, after having emerged from an at-times brutal primary process, holds a slight lead over President Obama, 47 percent v. 45 percent. That must be disconcerting to those on the left, who believe that Obama is nearly a lock for re-election.

He’s clearly not.

To make matters worse for the president, 2012 will — in the words of former Clinton aide William Galston – be a “referendum, not a choice.” But most ominously for Obama is this paragraph:

Obama is no longer the master of his fate. During the 2008 campaign, Obama could and did seize the initiative in the face of unexpected events. His agile response to the mid-September financial meltdown propelled him into a lead that he never surrendered. In 2012, by contrast, he will be at the mercy of events that he cannot control. The Supreme Court will decide the fate of the Affordable Care Act. A military confrontation between Israel and Iran would put the administration in the no-win situation it has struggled to avoid, with incalculable consequences for our national security as well as our politics. If job creation returns to the strong pace of the late winter and remains there through the fall, he will be reelected with room to spare. But if the middling March employment report is a harbinger of things to come, the electorate’s evaluation of his performance will be harsh, and the road to reelection very steep indeed.

The problem with this statement is that the “strong pace” it refers to isn’t really a strong pace.  People react to the numbers, but the unemployment numbers buoyed up by people leaving the workforce will be dragged down if hiring picks up and people come back into the workforce.  In other words, more jobs could equal more unemployment.

4.  What’s going wrong for President Obama?  All of the Above

… The Obama campaign problems go beyond the tone-deaf community-organizer politics on the stupid Buffett Rule, the Rosen flap, and the naughty boys at the Secret Service. It's all of the above -- and then some. It's the stupid stimulus, which is turning into a real bust now that all those female schoolteachers are losing their jobs. It's the corrupt green energy swamp, where the latest scandal has green corporate officers loaning themselves the company green. It's the war on Big Oil, just as we are entering a new era of fossil-fuel exploration. It's the death sentence on Big Coal just as coal is getting priced out of the market by fracking natural gas. It's the utter stupidity of ObamaCare when everyone knows it's going to raise health care costs.

How many issues can you get wrong in four years, Mr. President? Are you going for the Guinness Book of Records?

Chuck Todd didn't mention the Trayvon Martin case and the unjust overcharging of accused murderer George Zimmerman. I don't know whose brilliant idea this was, whether the Justice Brothers' or the Obama campaign's, but it contains nothing but land mines for the president. What does it say to the white working class if they can't defend their neighborhoods against teenage hoodies without permission from Reverend Al Sharpton? What does it say to Latinos when it seems that the Democrats will always side with blacks against "white Hispanics"? The president and his people are sending a message to independent voters that they'd better not put a foot wrong on race, or their lives will be ruined like George Zimmerman's….

For six months Romney was getting hammered by his rivals for the Republican nomination.  The fact that Obama has dropped so quickly against Romney once Santorum dropped out of the race is the bottom line here.  Obama has so many problems that the chance for him to be reelected is almost zero.

5.   How likable is Barack Obama?

Very likable, it seems, at least in contrast to his GOP rival. According to a Washington Post/ABC News poll released a few days ago, Americans by a more than 2-to-1 ratio say the president is more "friendly and likable" than Mitt Romney.

Many Republicans, and especially conservatives, can find these numbers hard to credit. Some note that the poll sampling favors Democrats and thus artificially inflates the president's numbers. Still others have come to dislike President Obama so much that it makes them suspicious when they read numbers indicating they are in the minority.

The focus on likability is a mistake. It's a mistake, first, for Democrats if they believe likability will be enough for Mr. Obama to win re-election come November. It's even more of a mistake for those Republicans who believe that the only way to defeat the president is to get fellow Americans to dislike him as much as they do.

At its core, the confusion over likability has to do with an inability to see the world as the other side sees it. Hilary Rosen gave us a perfect example of this phenomenon recently when she suggested that Ann Romney "never worked a day in her life." The folks at the White House immediately threw Ms. Rosen under the bus: They feared the administration would be tarred with the same unwitting arrogance Ms. Rosen exhibited when she failed to see how her remarks might be viewed by millions of American women who have made the same choice as Mrs. Romney.

Republicans ought not make this mistake with Mr. Obama…

…Now, the president's likability doesn't mean Mr. Romney shouldn't go on the offensive. It does mean he ought to attack hardest where Mr. Obama is at his weakest: his failed policies. For all the carping about Mr. Romney, this part he gets. We can see it reflected in both his embrace of the opportunity-oriented Republicanism of Wisconsin's Paul Ryan—and his repeated refrain that Mr. Obama is simply "in over his head."…

The Republicans need to attack the President with his own words (something they appear to be doing very well so far).  A video of a promise or a stance he took in 2008 and then talking about his current position.  Obama cannot win voters if he has to keep explaining why it could be worse or why after almost four years he hasn’t solved the problem.  It’s a losing position for even a likeable guy.

6.   Green Jobs: More broken promises

A recent lengthy report by Reuters confirms what many conservatives have long known: President Obama's promise to create millions of so-called "green jobs" has been a colossal and expensive failure.

A few highlights from the report:

·         Since 2009, the wind industry has lost 10,000 jobs, even as the energy capacity of wind farms has almost doubled. By contrast, the oil and gas industry have created 75,000 jobs since Mr. Obama took office.

·         "A $500 million job-training program has so far helped fewer than 20,000 people find work, far short of its goal." The program was so bad that "the Labor Department's inspector general recommended last fall that the agency should return the $327 million that remained unspent." They didn't. And now, the department "remains far short of its goal of placing 80,000 workers into green jobs by 2013."

·         According to the Labor Department's own figures, the push for so-called "green jobs" has been an abysmal failure. "By the end of 2011, some 16,092 participants had found new work in a "green" field, according to the Labor Department - roughly one-fifth of its target."

The article also highlights the degree to which Obama's big jobs promises have fallen flat. For example, in 2008, Obama promised that "investing" $150 billion taxpayer dollars would create 5 million jobs over 10 years….

This is the reason Obama doesn’t want to talk about his record or his promises from 2008.  And it is the reason Romney doesn’t need to go negative, he only has to go truthful.
