Victims and other political issues

Austin man hang empty chair from tree

A report by a Democratic-leaning blog on Thursday about an empty chair being hanged from a tree in Northwest Austin has sparked online outrage suggesting that whoever did it was motivated by racial intolerance.

"The resident, a Republican, lynched an empty chair from a tree in his yard, which one can easily interpret to represent a racially motivated act of violence against the President,"  wrote Katherine Haenschen, editor of the Austin-based Burnt Orange Report.

I would never hang and empty chair from a tree, but I also would never elect one president of the United States either.

In another story, it appears the Secret Service is investigating this.  It reminds of the kid who got expelled from school with a zero tolerance for weapons who used his index finger as a pretend gun.  When he was expelled the child told the adults, it was make believe.  Now for the secret service, “it was only a chair.”

Obama Finally gets some tough questions in an interview

The interview came tonight on Univision, where Obama was knocked about by host Jorge Ramos. Ramos grilled Obama on his promise to pass comprehensive immigration reform: “You promised that, and a promise is a promise,” Ramos chided him. “And with all due respect, you didn’t keep that promise.” Obama then stammered his way through a condescending explanation of separation of powers, completely ignoring the fact that his party was in control of the House and Senate for the first two years of his tenure.

But the grilling didn’t stop there. Later, Ramos asked what Obama’s biggest failure was – and Obama took a second bite at the apple, claiming that it was his failure to pass comprehensive immigration reform. A for effort. F for fact. He then blamed Congress for deporting so many illegal immigrants – even though his campaign has touted his crime-fighting prowess when it comes to such deportations repeatedly.

Ramos also asked Obama whether his unilateral move to prevent deportations of young illegal immigrants was a political move. Obama once again stuttered his way through an answer about Latino polling.

What is amazing is that someone finally tried to hold him accountable.

Romney releases tax figures

Mitt Romney released his tax figure for last year.  He paid $1.936 million on income of $13.697 million for a rate of 13.8%.  In addition he donated $4.02 million to charity.  All together between taxes and charity he paid 40.9% of his income which is about twice what President Obama paid out in taxes and charity.

Nancy Pelose:  If we win the House we will pass an amendment to the Constitution to reverse Citizens United ruling

Good luck on that Nancy.  To do it you would have to pick up 99 seats in the House and it would be impossible to pick up the 14 seats in the Senate that would be necessary since only 10 Republican Senate seats are up in this election.  Sometimes I think the Democrats are complete fools, while other times I know it.  You would think someone who was the Speaker of the House would know how the Constitution works.

If your number one priority is keeping our Diplomats safe

Shouldn’t your number one failure be failing to do so rather than not passing comprehensive immigration reform?  Or shouldn’t it be doubling the deficit?  Or perhaps it should be having 23 million people out of work or working only part time?  With this president it is a real horse race what his number one failure is.

President Obama 2012: Change can only come from the outside

President Obama declared today that the most important lesson he’s learned in office is that “you can’t change Washington from the inside; you can only change it from the outside.”
I’m not sure if this is an admission of failure on his part or a cry for help.  I’m taking it as a cry for help and will be voting for Mitt Romney so Obama can continue change from the outside.

Obama will lose because he’s lost the Black Voters passion

A black who voted for McCain, tells us what he’s seeing with other blacks.  They are making excuses for the failed presidency of Barack Obama and this will result in about 2 million fewer black voters in 2012 than in 2008.

Obama will lose because the undecided voters are likely not to vote for him

The respondents whom they classified as "up for grabs" - either undecided or leaning only slightly to one of the candidates. Several demographic indicators suggest that the remaining voters are ripe for the picking for Romney: 68 percent are white, 57 percent are married, 53 percent are men, 70 percent think the country is headed in the wrong direction, and 60 percent disapprove of how Obama is doing his job.

One smart deer

It appears a mystery has been solved.  Who is destroying the Obama campaign sign in a Democratic neighborhood in Texas?

One stupid group of people

New data found that just 15 percent of Democrats believe that recent economic news is mostly poor, a percentage that took a significant drop from the 31 percent of Democrats polled last month who did think that economic news was mostly bad.
Perhaps stupid is the wrong word.  Perhaps being in denial is a better way to characterize these folks.
