The economy and other unhappy things

No Happy Face for the Economy

Here’s an interesting article on just how bad August’s numbers were.  Obama keeps asking if we want to go back to the failed policies of yesterday or keep moving forward.  His definition of forward is suspect.  It’s as if we hired a new guide who told us he could take us where we wanted to go cheaper and faster than our old guide did.  Since hiring him it cost twice as much and we are going much slower than the previous guide did.  So the answer is “Yes, we want to go back to the failed policies of the past as opposed to the fail policies of the present.”

Obama, the Democrats, and Math

It appears both Obama and the Democratic Party are math challenge.  Recently President Obama in a speech was getting the crowd excited with his goal to increase manufacturing and sell these products around the world stamped with THREE proud words, “Made in the USA.”

Obama and modern technology

It also appears President Cool, isn’t as smooth as the press makes him out to be.  In a photo session he was supposed to call two campaign volunteers who were out working on his behalf.  White House trip director Marvin Nicholson handed the president his personal iPhone, Mr. Obama couldn't get it to work. A reporter who witnessed the scene said the president looked "befuddled."

Obama’s Hubris

“…I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment — this was the time — when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.” —Barack Obama

Simpson-Bowles:  The Real Story

The political myth is that Mr. Ryan was the spoiler because he's an anti-tax purist. His real objection at the time was that the Simpson-Bowles Democrats refused to offer an equal trade on spending. Their non-negotiable demand was that ObamaCare was off the table and there could be no structural reforms in Medicare and Medicaid.

How is that a real compromise? Everyone agrees that Medicare and Medicaid are growing too fast for revenues to keep up. Mr. Obama himself told the 2010 House GOP retreat that "The major driver of our long-term liabilities, everybody here knows, is Medicare and Medicaid and our health-care spending. Nothing comes close." The fiscal reality is that if health care is off the table, then the only possible not-so-grand bargain is permanent tax increases that chase an explosion of federal spending.

Was Elizabeth Warren hired as an affirmative action?

In the early 1990s Elizabeth Warren co-authored the book “As We Forgive Our Debtors: Bankruptcy and Consumer Credit in America”which was panned by critics for scientific misconduct.
The work “contains so much exaggeration, so many questionable ploys, and so many incorrect statements that it would be well to check the accuracy of their raw data, as old as it is,” Schuchman added.  This was overlooked by Harvard as they attempted to apply affirmative action to hiring more female faculty.
And this was a featured speaker at the DNC.

An amateur as President

Our immature president has made countless mistakes in the last four years.  Mistakes that come from a lack of experience and a lack of understanding of human nature.  Obama failed to compromise to get consensus.  He had the votes so he just charged ahead and didn’t bring everyone into the game.  Any decent manager knows that if you want something to work you need to give everyone a stake in the decision.  Obama didn’t and he will probably lose in November as a result.

The Communist Party endorsement of Barack Obama

The CPUSA endorses Barack Obama on the very same grounds -- even in the same words -- that Obama uses in defense of himself.

Highest Paid teachers in the Country go on Strike

Well so much for it’s for the children meme.  Chicago style politics has power trumping common sense.

Are Democrats Really the “Pro-Science” Party?

A narrative has developed over the past several years that the Republican Party is anti-science. Recently, thanks to the ignorant remarks about rape made by Rep. Todd Akin, the Democrats have seized the opportunity to remind us that they are the true champions of science in America. But is it really true?
No. As we thoroughly detail in our new book, “Science Left Behind.”  Democrats are willing to throw science under the bus for any number of pet ideological causes – including anything from genetic modification to vaccines…

Fascism is coming to California

And its name is Proposition 31.
