More recently Bill Clinton used executive orders to bypass the Senate ratification of the chemical weapons convention and to try to prevent government contracts going to companies that opposed unions by using strike-breakers.
Republican progressives are no strangers to unconstitutional executive orders either. GEORGE W. BUSH SIGNED EXECUTIVE ORDERS THAT, AMONG OTHER THINGS, ESTABLISHED AN ALTERNATIVE GOVERNMENT IN THE CASE OF A PRESIDENTIALLY DECLARED EMERGENCY. Barack Obama has continued the tradition of unconstitutional executive orders by GRANTING WIDE POWERS TO INTERPOL IN AMERICA AND SEALING HIS OWN RECORDS FROM INSPECTION, and he is now looking for means to impose gun control through executive orders. If we consider that an executive order can only be overridden by the Supreme Court (which has only happened twice) or a supermajority of Congress, the power of the executive order is downright scary.
Unfortunately the picture is dismal at best. Every two years Americans elect their representatives and every six, they elect their senators. However these elections are little more than a sham to allow Americans to think they still have a republic. THERE IS VIRTUALLY NOTHING THAT THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH AND REGULATORY AGENCIES CAN'T DO ANYMORE. IN FACT SOME LIBERAL TALKERS HAVE OUTRIGHT CALLED FOR OBAMA TO RULE BY EXECUTIVE ORDER AND HE IS HEEDING THEIR CALL. When the Cap and Trade bill became impossible to enact, Obama directed the EPA to implement provisions similar to the core thrust of the bill anyway….

MN Governor Caves
Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton and Republican leaders went behind closed doors at 2 p.m. Thursday to discuss a budget proposal with additional conditions that could end the state government shutdown. The trio emerged shortly after 5 p.m. to announce a "framework agreement" has been reached.
The meeting began after the governor sent a letter Thursday morning to House Speaker Kurt Zellers and Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch, saying HE "RELUCTANTLY" AGREES TO ACCEPT THE REPUBLICAN BUDGET PROPOSAL FROM JUNE 30 IF IT WILL END THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN .
“Despite my serious reservations about your plan, I have concluded that continuing the state government shutdown would be even more destructive for too many Minnesotans,” Dayton wrote in the letter. “Therefore, I am willing to agree to something I do not agree with – your proposal – in order to spare our citizens and our state from further damage.”
Dayton said accepting the offer, with conditions, would bridge a $1.4 billion gap between him and the Republican leadership without any more drastic cuts to to essential services.
"If this gets resolved and gets Minnesota back to work in the next few days, then it doesn't matter what people say about me,” Dayton said.

Obama’s future looks bleak
Barack Obama has been busily blaming Republicans in Congress for the impasse over the debt talks, painting House Majority Leader Eric Cantor as the villain for having the temerity to reject the president’s latest offer. According to a White House official, Obama defiantly declared yesterday: “I HAVE REACHED THE POINT WHERE I SAY ENOUGH. WOULD RONALD REAGAN BE SITTING HERE? I’VE REACHED MY LIMIT. THIS MAY BRING MY PRESIDENCY DOWN, BUT I WILL NOT YIELD ON THIS.”
Obama, of course, is no Reagan. And THERE’S A GOOD REASON WHY CANTOR, a highly intelligent and thoughtful leader on Capitol Hill, HAS REJECTED OBAMA’S ENTREATIES – BECAUSE HE DOESN’T WANT THE UNITED STATES TO END UP LIKE GREECE ON AN EPIC SCALE. The United States is on the verge of bankruptcy, after years of profligate federal overspending and thoroughly reckless bailouts, which are now threatening to lower the country’s all-important credit rating.
If his presidency does fall in 2012, which now looks an increasingly strong possibility according to some surveys, PRESIDENT OBAMA WILL ONLY HAVE HIMSELF TO BLAME. He has spent the best part of the last two and a half years blaming America’s economic ills on the Bush administration, and more recently upon the Republican-dominated House of Representatives. But the American people don’t seem to be buying it. YOU CAN ONLY GET SO FAR BY TRYING TO SHIFT RESPONSIBILITY TO THE SHOULDERS OF OTHERS WHEN YOU ARE ULTIMATELY IN CHARGE OF RUNNING THE COUNTRY, and have been for 30 months, which is an extremely long time in politics.

Right now, Obama and the Democrats’ futures look very bleak. The flailing you are seeing now is them trying to get some traction with the American public, so over and over again you hear about the Republicans don’t want to tax the rich. Cheating in School, but this time it’s the Teachers
Those sneaky students in the back of the classroom aren’t the only cheaters.
TEACHERS AND SCHOOL LEADERS ARE GETTING IN ON THE SCAMS BY BOOSTING TEST SCORES NOT THROUGH BETTER INSTRUCTION, BUT BY ERASING WRONG ANSWERS, replacing them with the right ones and hoodwinking parents in the process.
NOWHERE WAS THE CORRUPTION MORE WIDESPREAD THAN IN ATLANTA, where a recent probe found that 44 schools and 178 teachers and principals had been falsifying student test scores for the past decade. Suspected cheating also is under review in the District, and the Department of Education’s inspector general is assisting with the investigation.
IN PENNSYLVANIA, REPORTS THAT SURFACED THIS WEEK SHOW SUSPECTED CHEATING IN AT LEAST THREE DOZEN SCHOOL DISTRICTS. State Education Secretary Ronald Tomalis on Thursday ordered those districts to investigate the suspicious scores and report back within 30 days. He also asked a data company to analyze 2010 scores, according to the Associated Press.
SIMILAR CHARGES OF CHEATING HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED IN BALTIMORE, HOUSTON AND ELSEWHERE.

Negotiating with Lunatics
One of the benefits of having been a nurse for over thirty years is that people will occasionally allow me to be brutally honest. For example, I can get away with telling an acquaintance, "God did not create gastric reflux medication just so you can eat an entire pizza and then go lie on the couch like a beached whale."
Until recently, I was willing to believe that President Obama and his party were merely way-out-leftists, even Marxists. But AFTER LISTENING TO THEIR RESPONSE TO LAST WEEK'S HORRIFIC ECONOMIC NEWS, I CAN ONLY CONCLUDE THAT TODAY'S DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS LOST ITS COLLECTIVE MIND. In this nurse's expert opinion, Obama and the Democrats are crazy.
By "crazy," I mean looney, batty, daft, bonkers, and nutty as a fruitcake, to put it in medical terms….

… First, THE NURSE MUST ACCEPT THAT THE PATIENT IS DELUSIONAL, and therefore a lot of the things he "knows" are not based in reality and therefore not true. Asking a delusional patient who sees a giant pink bunny in the corner what medications he takes is not the best way to gather information. ASKING A DEMOCRAT WHO BELIEVES THAT THE RICH ARE NOT PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE TO COME UP WITH A BUDGET THAT MAKES SENSE IS LUDICROUS.
Second, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPROMISE WITH A PERSON WHO IS NOT IN TOUCH WITH REALITY. Hospital staff can't realistically make a discharge plan with a patient who believes she lives in Buckingham Palace. Likewise, Republicans can't compromise with any delusional Democrat who, for example, actually believes that the 14th amendment gives the president the authority to raise the debt ceiling all by himself.
Third, IT'S IMPORTANT TO AVOID VALIDATING THE PATIENT'S DELUSIONS BY ARGUING ABOUT THEM. In nursing school, we were taught to say, "I understand that the penguin at the foot of the bed is very real to you. But I don't see it." Then simply get on with your job. Republicans need to stop wasting their breath trying to prove to crazy liberals that Medicare is going broke. Republicans will never win that argument, because the two sides are working from different solar systems. REPUBLICANS WORK FROM REALITY. LIBERALS LIVE ON PLANET DEMOCRAT….
