Ten things that happen if the Boehner bill gets through
We know what happens if the Boehner bill fails in the House. There is no alternative plan. We suffer whatever shock to the U.S. and world economies that will follow a default. The president will go to the country, claiming the Republicans endangered the country’s economy and global standing. But what happens if the House passes the Boehner bill?
1. The Boehner bill becomes the inevitable solution to the crisis. As Keith Hennessey explains, WE ALSO MAKE PROGRESS IN RESTORING FISCAL SANITY:….
Here’s a must read. It explains what is in the Boehner bill and the political ramifications.
Dem lawmaker: 'Nobody I know' has seen Reid plan
A House Democrat indicated Wednesday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) might not have party members' votes locked down for his deficit proposal.
"I'M NOT GOING TO COMMIT TO SOMETHING THAT NOBODY I KNOW HAS SEEN AND HAD A CHANCE TO ANALYZE," Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) said. "I want to see it."
Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) deficit proposal was met with division within his party on Monday, resulting in speculation that Boehner's two-step plan does not have enough Republican support to pass the House, much less the Senate, where REID SAID BOEHNER'S PLAN WOULD BE "DEAD ON ARRIVAL."
But Blumenauer said that few Democrats have had a chance to sign onto Reid's alternative measure. "I had dinner with one of my friends who is a senator last night, who was saying they're really interested in seeing the details," he said on CSPAN's "Washington Journal" program. "They haven't seen the details yet."…
It seems the Democratic leadership like bills that no one has read.
Meanwhile there is no White House Plan
The day after White House press secretary Jay Carney and Fox News reporter Ed Henry tangled over Henry's request for specifics on Obama's plan on debt limit and deficit reduction, Carney and Henry were back at it again on Wednesday.
HENRY ASKED AT THE BRIEFING WHEN OBAMA'S PLAN MIGHT BE SUBMITTED TO THE CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE.
"Ed, I understand, we can do this again, OK?" Carney said. "Has the speaker of the House shown you the positions he took in detail in the negotiations that were designed actually to achieve a compromise, as opposed to having a show vote?"
"WE PUT FORWARD A BUDGET, WE PUT FORWARD A FRAMEWORK," CARNEY SAID….
And here is the real tragedy. While both the House and the Senate have a plan, the White House has only “a framework.” As for the comment about the budget, it was defeated in the Senate 97-0. There is no leadership from this administration. None at all.
What Is The Path To Hell Paved With?
FOR 16 YEARS PRIOR TO 2009, THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TRIED TO BOOST HOME OWNERSHIP RATES AMONG MINORITIES AND IMMIGRANTS. Instead, it managed to cut in half the median value of real estate equity held by Hispanic homeowners.
THE MEDIAN VALUE OF HISPANIC-OWNED HOMES FELL FROM NEARLY $100,000 IN 2005 TO BARELY $49,000 BY 2009, according to a new report from the Pew Research Center. Meanwhile, Hispanics’ home ownership rate returned to the 1999 level.
The massive financial impact on Hispanics was even greater than the impact on blacks, whose median home equity declined by one-fifth to $59,000. Median home-equity among whites also declined by one-fifth, down to $95,000….
If you look at the debt and government spending you see a pattern of good intentions run amok.
Democrat accuses Republicans of acting like dictators
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), chair of the Democratic National Committee, said Wednesday that HOUSE REPUBLICANS ARE TRYING TO IMPOSE “DICTATORSHIP” THROUGH THEIR TACTICS IN THE DEBT-CEILING NEGOTIATIONS. She said the GOP rhetoric could “spark panic and chaos,” which she called “potentially devastating” to the economy.
The chair telephoned POLITICO to express “significant disappointment in where … Republicans have allowed this debate to degenerate.”Aren’t we at the point where the closer we get to chaos, the more concern that there should be about coming to the table and compromising with Democrats?”
Wasserman Schultz asked. “THIS IS NOT LEADERSHIP. THIS IS ALMOST LIKE DICTATORSHIP. I KNOW THEY WANT TO FORCE THE OUTCOME THAT … THEIR EXTREMISTS WOULD LIKE TO IMPOSE. But they are getting ready to spark panic and chaos, and they seem to be OK with that. And it’s just really disappointing, and potentially devastating.”…

Once again you have an example of projection. I guess “little Debbie” has forgotten what the Obamacare debate was like
Do High Taxes Hurt Growth?
HIGH TAXES ARE BAD FOR CITIES. Low taxes encourage growth. In fact, between 1980 and 2007, compared to the ten most-taxed metropolitan areas, AMERICA'S TEN LEAST-TAXED METROPOLITAN AREAS EXPERIENCED THREE TIMES FASTER POPULATION GROWTH, 2.7 TIMES FASTER EMPLOYMENT GROWTH, AND TWICE AS GREAT AN INCREASE IN PERSONAL INCOME. In the latest Cato Journal, economist Dean Stansel observes:
If high-tax, low-growth metro areas like Detroit, Milwaukee, Buffalo, and Syracuse want to be more like high-growth areas such as Dallas, Tampa, San Antonio, and Austin, they should lower their onerous burden of taxation and bring spending under control….
The left keeps saying taxes don’t hurt growth. The facts say otherwise.
Climate Science and Democracy
Archimedes supposedly said, GIVE ME A LONG ENOUGH LEVER AND I CAN MOVE THE WORLD. THE POST-NORMAL SCIENTISTS THINK THAT SCIENCE IS A LEVER THAT CAN BE USED TO RULE THE WORLD.
Certain important climate scientists are very eager to reorganize society. THEY PROCLAIM, ON WEAK EVIDENCE, THAT THE EARTH IS DOOMED BY GLOBAL WARMING UNLESS WE FOLLOW A GREEN PLAN TO REMAKE THE ECONOMY AND THE SOCIAL ORDER. We have to give up cars for trolleys. Windmills will become ubiquitous. The most famous climate scientist, JAMES HANSEN, WANTS TO PUT HIS OPPONENTS ON TRIAL FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY. Implicit in all this is the idea that a central committee of Dr. Strangeloves should rule the world. Instead of prince this and duke that, we will have doctor this and doctor that. THESE RADICAL INTELLECTUALS SECRETLY DESPISE THE PRESENT SYSTEM OF RULE BY THE RABBLE, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS DEMOCRACY. …
That last statement sums up what Progressivism is all about. They want to rule the “rabble” in a benevolent way, but democracy is not highly prized. Look at the major argument of the AGW crowd. “The debate is over, we have consensus.” Not only is this a lie, but it is anti-democratic and anti-science.
