10 Reasons liberals should root for the GOP

1) INCREDIBLY WEAK RECOVERY: President Barack Obama's tax/spend/regulation policy -- "stimulus"; continuation of TARP; bank, insurance company and auto industry bailouts; "quantitative easing" (aka the printing of money); cash for clunkers; minimum wage hikes; new regulatory rules on businesses; tripling of the deficit; addition of $4 trillion to the debt -- failed miserably to produce jobs and grow the economy at the historical rate expected after a deep recession.
2) OBAMACARE: PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA PROMISED IT WOULD "BEND THE COST CURVE" AND THAT "IF YOU LIKE YOUR DOCTOR, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO KEEP YOUR DOCTOR. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan." The chief Medicare actuary said neither of those claims is true. Two-thirds of doctors believe that ObamaCare will lower the quality of health care.

3) BOGUS FINANCIAL CRISIS INQUIRY COMMISSION: Comprised of six Democrats and four Republicans, the commission issued a majority report (with the Republicans dissenting) that blamed Wall Street greed. "Reckless Endangerment," a new book on the financial crisis co-authored by a New York Times columnist/business and financial editor, blames the central role played by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as government policy that pressured banks into relaxing lending standards so that the "underrepresented" could buy homes they could not afford….

A fun read if you are a conservative and very painful if you are a liberal.

Jackson Lee: Congress complicating debt ceiling because Obama is black

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Friday strongly suggested that members of Congress are making it difficult for President Obama to raise the debt ceiling because of his race.
"I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I THINK IS THE MALIGNING AND MALICIOUSNESS [TOWARD] THIS PRESIDENT,” said Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “WHY IS HE DIFFERENT? And in my community, that is the question that we raise. In the minority community that is question that is being raised. Why is this president being treated so disrespectfully? Why has the debt limit been raised 60 times? Why did the leader of the Senate continually talk about his job is to bring the president down to make sure he is unelected?”

Two answers to Ms. Lee’s questions that don’t include race.  First, he’s different with the debt ceiling because he is deficit spending at three times the rate of any other president in their worst year.  Secondly, the REPUBLICAN leader in the Senate wants to make sure a DEMOCRATIC president isn’t reelected.  That one is really simple.

Flashback: Every Dem Senator Including Obama Voted Against Raising Debt Limit In 2006…
It must have been because Bush is white

The other side of the coin.
Here’s what happens when you get a Republican governor
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services upgraded Ohio's debt rating just one day after it put the United States on "creditwatch negative" on what it calls a rising risk of policy stalemate in the debt limit negotiations.

FOR OHIO, THE RATING WAS REVISED FROM "NEGATIVE" TO "STABLE" AFTER GOV. JOHN KASICH SIGNED A NEW BUDGET THE RATINGS AGENCY SAYS WILL ESSENTIALLY BALANCE THE STATE'S FINANCES FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS. S&P also said Ohio is experiencing a modest economic recovery which has stabilized revenue.

In making the upgrade, the agency also assigned a "AA+" long-term rating to Ohio's $416.75 million general obligation bonds... "AFTER A SIGNIFICANT DECLINE THROUGH THE RECESSION, OHIO'S ECONOMY IS STEADILY RECOVERING," according to S&P's statement issued Friday.

Fiscal sanity is good for business.

Who Owns the Deficit?

In the battle for public opinion now underway, DEMOCRATS ARE POSING AS CENTRISTS WHO FAVOR A "BALANCED" BUDGET AGREEMENT. They have portrayed Republicans, especially Tea Party Republicans, as radicals and "obstructionists," a label the mainstream media has willingly adopted as well. Liberal commentators have been falling all over themselves repeating the president's lie that the GOP is driving the nation toward fiscal Armageddon.

Liberal rhetoric is always pretty otherworldly, but in this case the argument that conservatives are unwilling to compromise is especially outlandish. TO ACCUSE SOMEONE ELSE OF BEING UNCOMPROMISING IMPLIES ONE'S OWN WILLINGNESS TO COMPROMISE. To accuse another of being an obstructionist suggests one's own intent to move negotiations along -- for example, by offering reasonable suggestions for an agreement. BUT IN THE CURRENT NEGOTIATIONS, DEMOCRATS HAVE REFUSED TO CUT THE FEDERAL BUDGET EVEN BY 2%.

A 2% cut in the current federal budget would amount to $74 billion annually or $740 billion over 10 years. NEITHER OBAMA NOR DEMOCRATIC LEADERS IN CONGRESS HAVE EVER AGREED TO A CLEAN AGREEMENT EVEN OF THAT MAGNITUDE -- that is, an agreement with immediate spending cuts and no tax increases. Yet the federal budget deficit is running $1.6 trillion (or 10% of GDP), and trillion-dollar deficits are projected to continue throughout the next decade. A 25% reduction in spending is needed to bring the deficit down to a more sustainable level. IT IS DEMOCRATS WHO ARE OBSTRUCTING THESE CUTS

It’s their deficit and it’s their intransigence that is stopping all movement to a solution.  All you have to do is to look at the preconditions Obama has put on what can’t be cut.  It seems he has more preconditions with the Republicans than he does it the Iranians.
