Thursday: Obama predictions and solutions

Politics
Wisconsin’s new law takes effect

THE WISCONSIN SUPREME COURT CLEARED THE WAY TUESDAY FOR THE STATE'S CONTENTIOUS COLLECTIVE-BARGAINING LAW TO TAKE EFFECT, RULING 4-3 THAT A LOWER-COURT JUDGE WHO PUT THE MEASURE ON HOLD IMPROPERLY INTERFERED WITH THE LEGISLATURE.

The decision limits Wisconsin's public employees to bargaining over their wages. Raises will be limited to the inflation rate unless voters approve larger increases. The law also requires public employees to contribute 5.8% of their salaries to their pensions and pay at least 12.6% of their health-care premiums….

….Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, a Democrat, sued to block the law from taking effect, arguing the state open-meetings law was violated when the Republican leaders moved the bill through committee without giving a 24-hour public notice. A circuit-court judge sided with Mr. Ozanne, issuing a permanent injunction May 27 barring the law from taking effect.
Tuesday's opinion, signed by three of the Supreme Court's seven justices, said the CIRCUIT-COURT JUDGE, MARYANN SUMI, EXCEEDED HER AUTHORITY. The justices wrote, "One of the courts that we are charged with supervising has usurped the legislative power which the Wisconsin Constitution grants exclusively to the legislature."

The battle will now move to the recall effort by the Democrats.

ATMs And Automation

BARACK OBAMA SAYS THAT THE BAD ECONOMY ISN’T HIS FAULT BECAUSE OF THINGS LIKE ATM MACHINES:

“There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers. You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM, you don’t go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you’re using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate.”

Now I don’t think his idea is without merit. The technological revolutions of the last few decades and the challenges of globalization have changed the nature of our economy in significant ways. But I’m not sure how you can possibly blame ATMs. Aside from the myriad ways in which ATMS BOOST EFFICIENCY, LIQUIDITY, CONSUMER SPENDING (AND DON’T FORGET ALL OF THE JOBS CREATED FOR TECHNICIANS AND MANUFACTURERS OF ATM MACHINES), I’m not sure you can even blame a drop in bank teller jobs on bank machines. This is just a quick take, but just think about it for two seconds. The number of bank branches has soared in recent years….

… At the dawn of the self-service banking age in 1985, for example, the United States had 60,000 automated teller machines and 485,000 bank tellers. In 2002, the United States had 352,000 ATMs – and 527,000 bank tellers.

Guess who was president in 2002.

MEANWHILE, OBAMA DOES WANT TO MAKE SOME STRUCTURAL CHANGES TO THE ECONOMY THAT WILL DESTROY VERY GOOD PAYING JOBS IN THE ENERGY SECTOR. If his clean energy-win-the-future-regulate-carbon proposals were implemented, it would throw vast numbers of people out of work in the coal, oil and gas industries.

At one time, telephone operators would make all calls for people even local calls. It has been estimated that with the call volume made today, everyone in the United States would have to be a telephone operator to handle the traffic.

Obama’s solution to Unemployment

THIS IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OBAMA’S ECONOMIC PROGRAM TO UNDERSTAND WHY JOBLESSNESS REMAINS SO PERSISTENT:

The number one recommendation that the White House economic team and his jobs council – a council made up of the two top executives at GE and American Express- can come up with to jump start our economy IS SPENDING $2 BILLION ON REMEDIAL TRAINING FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES.

It’s true. This is even worse than the energy plan that Obama proposed that had no new ideas.
The training is necessary, they say, SO THOSE GRADUATES CAN FILL THE MILLIONS OF JOBS AVAILABLE TODAY IN MANUFACTURING. Manufacturing what? Burgers and fries?
For the last week President Obama and his COUNCIL ON JOBS AND COMPETITIVENESS- a council that’s supposed to be jump starting hiring- have been going around the country CLAIMING THAT THERE ARE 2 MILLION MANUFACTURING JOBS AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW THAT ARE GOING UNFILLED BECAUSE THE U.S. DOESN’T HAVE THE SKILLED WORKFORCE TO FILL THOSE JOBS.

Sometimes I’m convinced that liberal are delusional.

Liberal compassion?

….Start with my home state of Indiana, whose Republican legislature and governor enacted a LAW TO PROHIBIT TAXPAYER DOLLARS FROM FLOWING INTO THE HANDS OF ANY HEALTH CLINIC THAT PERFORMS ABORTIONS. Through entirely predictable demagoguery, the bleeding hearts of the left pounced on this action as an irresponsible assault on legitimate health services like cancer screenings and mammograms. WHERE ELSE WILL POOR FAMILIES TURN FOR THEIR HEALTHCARE, they asked, as they painted the picture of the impoverished dying in the streets due to an unprovoked conservative attack on choice.

Of course, beyond the reckless sensationalism, the fact remains that those tax dollars are still funding responsible family clinics that provide those essential services. They are only being denied to the ones who use the family planning cloak to shroud the evil butchery of abortion that appears at the top of their menu.

Nevertheless, with the stage set, BARACK OBAMA WADED INTO THE FRAY WITH THE TRADEMARK POLITICAL THUGGERY HE ONCE USED TO BROW-BEAT ARIZONANS OVER THEIR IMMIGRATION POLICY. This time, showing the extent to which he is beholden to the abortion lobby, OBAMA HAS THREATENED TO DENY INDIANA ITS FEDERAL MEDICAID DOLLARS IF HOOSIERS DON'T CAPITULATE TO HIS DEMANDS AND RESTORE PLANNED PARENTHOOD'S BLOOD MONEY.

So let me see if I have this correct. Republicans pass a law withholding funds from Planned Parenthood. Liberals see this as depriving some poor people of healthcare. So their solution is to withhold healthcare from all poor people in that state. And how does this make any sense at all????

Flashback, Obama 2009: I'll Be a One-Term President If I Don't Fix This Economy In Three Years

Much like the Constitution, Obama's accounting of himself is a living, breathing document, subject to the influence of changing political realities and social mores, and, of course, European law.

The money part comes at 4:20 in the clip. I think this may be one time he’ll be proven correct.
