Monday: The Economy and why it's getting worse

Economy
The Economy and why we’re in so much trouble

... On April 13 Obama delivered a ballyhooed speech at George Washington University. The man who conservatives as well as liberal pundits told us was a combination of Edmund Burke and Reinhold Niebuhr WAS WIDELY EXPECTED TO PRESENT A SERIOUS PLAN TO ADDRESS THE BUDGET DEFICITS AND ENTITLEMENT SPENDING.

Instead the man who can call on talented career professionals at the Office of Management and Budget to produce detailed blueprints GAVE US SOMETHING IN THE NATURE OF A FEW NUMBERS SCRAWLED ON A PAPER NAPKIN.

The man depicted as pragmatic and free of ideological cant INDULGED IN CHEAP POLITICAL RHETORIC, accusing Republicans, including House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan who was in the audience, of pushing old ladies in wheelchairs down the hill and starving autistic children.
The signal was clear. Obama had already ignored his own deficit reduction commission in preparing his annual budget, which was later rejected 97-0 in the Senate. NOW HE WAS SIGNALING THAT THE TIME FOR GOVERNING WAS OVER AND THAT HE WAS ENTERING CAMPAIGN MODE 19 MONTHS BEFORE THE NOVEMBER 2012 ELECTION. People took notice, especially those people who decide whether to hire or not. Goldman Sachs's Current Activity Indicator stood at 4.2 percent in March. In April -- in the middle of which came Obama's GW speech -- it was 1.6 percent. For May it is 1 percent.

"That is a major drop in no time at all," wrote Business Insider's Joe Weisenthal.

After April 13 Obama Democrats went into campaign mode. They staged a poll-driven Senate vote to increase taxes on oil companies.

They began a Mediscare campaign against Ryan's budget resolution that all but four House Republicans had voted for. That seemed to pay off with a special election victory in New York's 26th Congressional District.

THE MESSAGE TO JOB CREATORS WAS CLEAR. HIRE AT YOUR OWN RISK. HIGHER TAXES, MORE BURDENSOME REGULATION AND CRONY CAPITALISM MAY BE HERE FOR SOME TIME TO COME....

The time for governance is over? When did it begin?

Pants on fire ad by the Democrats

A new political ad from Democrats shows seniors running a lemonade stand, cutting the grass, and even stripping at a bachelorette party -- all to raise money to pay for Medicare.

The stripper, dressed as a firefighter, bellows, "Did someone call the fire department? Because it's about to get HOT in here!" The young women throw money at him while he dances around with a pink feather boa.

"Seniors will have to find $12,500 for health care," the ad says, "because REPUBLICANS VOTED TO END MEDICARE."

So do grandparents have to go back to work because of a Republican vote? NOT REALLY.

This is just the beginning. Lying is a liberal virtue.

Uncertain about uncertainty

Much of American business is sitting on a cash hoard. THE BIGGEST COMPANIES, THOSE LISTED ON THE STANDARD & POOR’S 500 INDEX, HAVE AMASSED A PILE CLOSE TO $1 TRILLION. To some, this idle pile is cause for outrage — further evidence that corporate America is evil incarnate. In this view, companies are passing up opportunities to grow, profit and hire out of sheer spite.

Yet THE LEVEL OF ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY IS HIGHER THAN AT ANY TIME I CAN REMEMBER. I don’t know any way to quantify this, but consider what businesses are facing right now.

There’s an ongoing battle over the deficit, a struggle that implies higher taxes if the Democrats win and something else — something still inchoate — if the Republicans prevail.

We won’t see a beginning of the end to the struggle over health care until we learn the results of next year’s election. If President Obama is defeated, the law, or major sections of it, will be repealed. But it’s impossible to know how any of this will come out….

….“They don’t know where their capital will come from,” said economist Chris Kuehl of Kansas City, Kan.-based Armada Corporate Intelligence. “In the past, they would assume that if they needed money they’d get in a line of credit. NOW THEY’RE VERY UNCERTAIN THAT WILL EVER BE THE CASE AGAIN. NOW THEY THINK THEY NEED TO KEEP CASH ON HAND. … A lot of businesses have brought that cash to levels up with where they had a line of credit.”

The Democrats have created the problem and are trying to blame someone, anyone else.

Left vs Right: A Spiritual Battle

Ask yourself. Specifically, WHAT ABOUT SARAH PALIN INSPIRES SUCH VISCERAL HATRED FROM THE LEFT? THE WORD IS "WHOLESOME."

For the most part, Palin promotes love for God, family and country. She is passionately determined to thwart Obama's plan to "fundamentally transformed America."

While realizing Palin is human and does not walk on water, PALIN EPITOMIZES HEARTLAND PRINCIPLES AND VALUES EMBRACED BY MOST AMERICANS. Thus, we are Palin and Palin is us.

The large number of Christians in the Tea Party believe in right and wrong. THE LEFT HAS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE CONCEPT OF RIGHT AND WRONG. THEIR RELIGION OF LIBERALISM EMBRACES MORAL RELATIVISM.

For these reasons, Palin and Tea Party are as repulsive to liberals as showing Dracula the cross.
There is definitely an anti-wholesome, anti-goodness vibe coming out of Hollywood. Hollywood leftists are vehemently anti-death penalty. They rally around convicted murderers. These Hollywood libs pride themselves as being Lords of Compassion and Tolerance.

AND YET, THESE SAME LIBS HAVE A COW WHENEVER SOMEONE MERELY SUGGESTS TO A WOMAN THAT SHE THINK TWICE BEFORE ABORTING HER BABY. Tell me there ain't something spiritually wrong with such a mindset.

This is the battle that is taking place. The left has a set of values that it wants to impose on everyone else even as they deny they want to impose anything on anyone. They aren’t against Christmas, but they want it out of our schools. You’re free to celebrate it yourself in the privacy of your own home (at least for now).

Everything you need to know you didn’t learn in kindergarten

In 1988 a fluffy lightweight book by Robert Fulghum , a Unitarian Universalist Minister, hit the best seller lists. Its thesis was that everything you really need to know you learned in kindergarten. THE TOP THREE ITEMS WERE "SHARE EVERYTHING; PLAY FAIR; AND DON'T HIT PEOPLE."
These precepts might be fine for kindergarten pupils in Washington State where he resides, but as a template for grownups living 2011, IT FALLS LAUGHABLY SHORT OF PRACTICAL. We can be charitable without sharing equally; we should play fair (for example, foregoing intensive
interrogations of prisoners captured in battle) only when those who want us dead play fair, and we should hit back at people who are trying to kill us….

This was a bestselling book back in the 1980s. The problem exists by people in government who took it to heart.

Weiner’s fall from grace

In the nano-second it takes to send a tweet, REP. ANTHONY WEINER'S POLITICAL CAREER HAS SHORT-CIRCUITED.

From the moment a lewd photograph of bulging briefs was sent to a 21-year-old college student from Weiner's Twitter account last Friday, the married congressman has been on the defensive.

He first tried to laugh it off, then did a blitz of media interviews in which he insisted he didn't send the photo - but couldn't be 100% sure that it wasn't his crotch shot.

In between nonanswers, he oddly tossed out double-entendres and Weiner jokes.

"He's a Shakespearean figure in some ways. ALL THE TRAITS THAT MAKE HIM A STAR - INTELLIGENCE, WIT, HUMOR, HIS BELIEF HE CAN QUIP HIS WAY OUT OF ANYTHING - TRIP HIM UP," said one former colleague....

His tantrums and ultra left positions aren’t helping him here either.
