In today’s USA Today, former DNC interim chair Donna Brazile claims that REPUBLICANS ARE TRYING TO BLOCK VOTERS FROM THE POLLS AND REDUCE THE VOTING RIGHTS OF ”DEMOCRATIC-LEANING AMERICANS.” She asserts that Republicans are passing STATE BALLOT INTEGRITY LAWS — SUCH AS VOTER PHOTO-ID REQUIREMENTS – TO LIMIT THE PARTICIPATION OF MINORITY VOTERS, the young, and the poor (purported Obama voters) heading into the 2012 elections. Brazile asks, ”Do we really want to see Florida’s 2000 election controversy replayed?”….
….Despite numerous allegations suggesting widespread voter intimidation, suppression, and harassment, THE COMMISSION’S INVESTIGATION PRODUCED JUST TWO OSTENSIBLE INSTANCES OF PERCEIVED VOTER INTIMIDATION. Were there voting problems in Florida? Sure, as in every election. But the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT FOUND NO CREDIBLE EVIDENCE THAT FLORIDIANS WERE INTENTIONALLY DENIED THE RIGHT TO VOTE.
In contrast, a subsequent media analysis showed that at least 2000 VOTES WERE CAST ILLEGALLY IN FLORIDA IN THE 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. Since the margin of victory in Florida was 537 votes, the fraudulent votes were sufficient to affect the outcome of the election….

This seems to be the biannual dance we do. The Democrats want to let any and all people who show up to vote do just that, while the Republicans want to make sure they are actually legal voters who have only voted once.
GAO Report on for profit colleges
A smoking gun document about an error-ridden GAO report puts the murder weapon in a top Democratic senator’s hands.
GAO ISSUED A SLEW OF CORRECTIONS IN NOVEMBER TO AN UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION INTO FOR-PROFIT COLLEGES REQUESTED BY SEN. TOM HARKIN, IOWA DEMOCRAT, who had unveiled the report at a hearing highly critical of the schools Aug. 4.
A internal GAO email obtained by The Daily Caller, a self-evaluation on what went wrong from a member of the team that wrote the report, suggests GAO was under the gun.
The email says GAO was put under “extreme short time frames” by Harkin to issue the report and “congressional staffers” demanded the inclusion of numerous details as it was being finalized.
“It certainly discredits the report, doesn’t it?” said Rep. Rob Andrews, New Jersey Democrat and long-time advocate for the for-profit schools, “The fact that they felt pressure to finish this on time is disquieting.”

So does this constitute a lie by Harkin? Harkin is not well known for his truthfulness. "Harkin himself claimed to have battled MIG fighters over North Vietnam while a Navy pilot. He was a pilot, but never went to Vietnam."

But now that there's a man in the White House the press absolutely adore, the once syndicated polemicist claims he's having a hard time getting anyone to publish his work:
In the past, editorial rejections had numerous causes: low budgets, lack of space, an editor who simply preferred another creator's work over yours.
NOW THERE' S A NEW CAUSE FOR REFUSAL: TOO TOUGH ON THE PRESIDENT.
I've heard that from enough "liberal" websites and print publications to consider it a significant trend.

• "I AM FAMILIAR WITH AND ENJOY YOUR CARTOONS. HOWEVER THE READERS OF OUR SITE WOULD NOT BE COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR (ADMITTEDLY ON POINT) CRITICISM OF OBAMA."
• "DON'T BE SUCH A HATER ON O AND WE COULD USE YOUR STUFF. CAN'T YOU FOCUS MORE ON THE GOP?"
• "OUR FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRESIDENT DESERVES A CHANCE TO CLEAN UP BUSH'S MESS WITHOUT BEING ATTACKED BY US."

The letter, slated to run in the form of full-page ads in six metropolitan newspapers around the country on Wednesday, acknowledges that "the contributors to today's (health) epidemic are manifold and a broad societal response is required. But marketing can no longer be ignored as a significant part of this massive problem."

THREE ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISTS AND A DUCK WALK INTO A BAR AND START TALKING GLOBAL WARMING WITH A DOZEN PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO FORMAL EDUCATION IN CLIMATE SCIENCE. Sound like the beginning of a bad joke? Actually, it’s not. It’s what the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) would have us believe is an expert, objective, scientifically authoritative panel qualified to produce its latest report, America’s Climate Choices.
AMERICA’S CLIMATE CHOICES ASSERTS THAT HUMANS ARE THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF RECENT CLIMATE CHANGE THAT POSES SIGNIFICANT RISKS TO HUMAN WELFARE AND THE ENVIRONMENT. The report asserts we need to act now to fend off future harms.
Environmental activist groups and their media allies have had a field day CLAIMING AMERICA’S CLIMATE CHOICES IS AN UNQUESTIONABLY OBJECTIVE AND EXPERT REPORT PROVIDING IRREFUTABLE PROOF THAT HUMANS ARE CAUSING A GLOBAL WARMING CRISIS…..
….Only 23 people served on the panel. This is hardly sufficient to form a scientific consensus.
OF THE 23 PANELISTS, ONLY FIVE HAVE A PH.D. IN A FIELD CLOSELY RELATED TO CLIMATE SCIENCE. That’s less than 22%.
FIVE OF THE 23 PANELISTS ARE OR WERE STAFFERS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVIST ORGANIZATIONS. That means there are as many professional environmental activists on the panel as there are persons with climate-related science degrees.
Prior TO PUBLISHING THE REPORT, 19 OF THE 23 MADE STATEMENTS CLAIMING GLOBAL WARMING IS A HUMAN INDUCED PROBLEM AND/OR WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION TO REDUCE CARBON DIOXIDE RESTRICTIONS. That means 83% of the panel was clearly and obviously biased before being selected…..
…To claim that a report from such a small panel, comprised primarily of non-climate scientists and environmental activists, is objective and scientifically authoritative is a joke. …
