Private Sector is doing Fine????

What’s New Today

Story #1 looks at Obama’s House of Cards.  #2 tells you what a green job is in Obama’s America.  #3 talks about how Obama is killing the Democratic Party.  In another bad sign for Obama #4 relates how Romney outraised Obama in May.  #5 has Obama declaring the private sector is doing fine.  #6 has a large majority of Americans wanting to see Obamacare declared unconstitutional.

Today’s Thoughts

“Although it (Global Warming) maintains a claim to being based on science, its relation to genuine, evidence based, logically consistent, refutable science is not unlike that of Scientology, with which it shares a number of commonalities.” ~Walter Starck

Obama told a San Francisco fund raising audience, “It’s Still about Hope and Change.”  Well that is true for the Republicans this election.

Excuses seem to be the name of the game for liberals. For Obama it’s Bush’s fault, Europe’s fault, Technology’s fault, etc.  And the new all-purpose excuse is Citizen United.

1.  Obama’s House of Cards

…President Obama's problem now isn't what Wisconsin did, it's how he looks each day—careening around, always in flight, a superfluous figure. NO ONE EVEN LOOKS TO HIM FOR LEADERSHIP NOW. He doesn't go to Wisconsin, where the fight is. He goes to Sarah Jessica Parker's place, where the money is.

There is, now, a house-of-cards feel about this administration.

It became apparent some weeks ago when the president talked on the stump—where else?—about an essay by a fellow who said spending growth is actually lower than that of previous presidents. This was startling to a lot of people, who looked into it and found the man had left out most spending from 2009, the first year of Mr. Obama's presidency. People sneered: The president was deliberately using a misleading argument to paint a false picture! But you know, why would he go out there waving an article that could immediately be debunked? Maybe because he thought it was true. That's more alarming, isn't it, the idea that he knows so little about the effects of his own economic program that he thinks he really is a low spender.

For more than a month, his people have been laying down the line that America was just about to enter full economic recovery when the European meltdown stopped it. (I guess the slowdown in China didn't poll well.) You'll be hearing more of this—we almost had it, and then Spain, or Italy, messed everything up. What's bothersome is not that it's just a line, but that the White House sees its central economic contribution now as the making up of lines.

Any president will, in a presidential election year, be political. But there is a startling sense with Mr. Obama that that's all he is now, that he and his people are all politics, all the time, undeviatingly, on every issue. He isn't even trying to lead, he's just trying to win. …

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303753904577452793597495290.html

Peggy Noonan has a way with a phrase that connects the reader with the truth of what she is saying.  The House of Cards is falling down.

2.  What’s a green Job in Obama’s America?

As Stalin once said, “It’s not the people who vote that count, but the people who count the votes.”  It appears Obama has his own version of that.  I’ll bet you didn’t know your garbage man was holding a green job.

3.  Obama is killing the Democratic Party

President Obama, I have frequently argued, has been fabulous for the conservative movement. He spurred the creation of the tea party. He helped the GOP win the House majority in 2010 and make big gains in the Senate. His Obamacare has helped revive the Commerce Clause and given a boost to conservative jurisprudence. His refusal to support human rights has caused a bipartisan revulsion and reminded us that foreign policy must be girded by American values. He’s sent independents running into the GOP’s arms. He’s forced conservatives to think hard and express eloquently principles of religious liberty, limited government, free markets and Constitutional democracy.

Obama also has wreaked havoc in the Democratic Party. He’s firmly affixed the “tax and spend” label to it after Bill Clinton declared that the era of big government was over. He’s made Clinton into a pitch man for Mitt Romney. His rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline has split the party. His refusal to adopt the Simpson-Bowles commission’s recommendations has turned Democrats into reactionaries, defending the status quo on entitlements. He’s alienated Jewish voters. He’s re-McGovernized the party, which now stands for appeasing despotic powers, turning on allies and slashing defense spending.
As Ross Douthat wrote,  “House Republicans have spent the past two years taking tough votes on entitlement reform, preparing themselves for an ambitious offensive should 2012 deliver the opportunity to cast those same votes and have them count. The Senate Democrats, on the other hand, have failed to even pass a budget: There is no Democratic equivalent of Paul Ryan’s fiscal blueprint, no Democratic plan to swallow hard and raise middle class taxes the way Republicans look poised to swallow hard and overhaul Medicare. Indeed, there’s no liberal agenda to speak of at the moment, beyond a resounding ‘No!’ to whatever conservatism intends to do.”…

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/post/obama-is-killing-the-democratic-party/2012/06/06/gJQAGCVlJV_blog.html

So in reality, it is the Democrats who are the party of no.  No to anything the conservative want to do.  No to solving any of the problems that we know are just around the corner and No to providing an alternative to the status quo.  Far from progressive, the Democrats are reactionaries.

4.  Romney Out-Raises Obama in May

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and Republican groups raised more than $76.8 million in May, his campaign said on Thursday, topping the $60 million President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies hauled in.

The campaign and Republican National Committee have $107 million cash on hand, the campaign said.

Another bad sign for the Democrats.

5.  Obama:  “The Private Sector is doing fine.”

Question: What about the Republicans saying that you're blaming the Europeans for the failures of your own policies?

President Obama: The truth of the matter is that, as I said, we created 4.3 million jobs over the last 27 months, over 800,000 just this year alone.

The private sector is doing fine. Where we're seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. Oftentimes cuts initiated by, you know, Governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don't have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in….

Actually that isn’t true (either the private sector is doing fine or that he’s created over 800,000 this year).  The actual number is 759,000 broken down this way January 243,000, February 227,000, March 143,000, April 77,000, May 69,000.  It appears Obama’s writers didn’t see that the job figures for both March and April were revised downward. And for Obama to say the private sector is doing fine makes you wonder has any president ever been this out of touch?

6. New Poll: The Supreme Court and Obamacare

More than two-thirds of Americans hope the Supreme Court will overturn some or all of the 2010 health care law, according to a new poll conducted by The New York Times and CBS News. Just 24 percent said they hoped the court “would keep the entire health care law in place.”

The Supreme Court is expected to decide a challenge to the law by the end of this month.

Forty-one percent of those surveyed said the court should strike down the entire law, and another 27 percent said the justices should overturn only the individual mandate, which requires most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty.

These numbers have not changed much in recent months and appeared to be largely unaffected by the more than six hours of arguments in the Supreme Court in March.

There was greater Republican opposition to the law than Democratic support. About two-thirds of Republicans in the recent survey said the entire law should be overturned, while 43 percent of Democrats said all of the law should be upheld.

More than 70 percent of independent voters said they wanted to see some or all of the law struck down, with a majority saying they hoped to see the whole law overturned. Twenty-two percent of independents said they hoped the entire law would survive.

If you are a supporter of the law and wonder why Obama is not making an issue out of it in the campaign read the column again.  Not even a majority of Democrats want to see the law upheld.

Obama vs SCOTUS, Oil, the Recovery....

What’s new Today

Story #1 relates how President Obama is going after the Supreme Court.  From his words you have to wonder where anyone got the idea that he is a Constitutional Scholar.  #2 looks at the silver lining of having Barack Obama as president.  He may have ushered in the end of the Progressive movement.  #3 describes how the Democrats while complaining that the economy their inherited was the worst since the Depression fail to mention the recovery is the worst ever.  #4 looks at while liberals are unpleasant to be around.  #5 relates how Obama says one thing regarding oil and does something entirely different with his actions.  #6 is a great example of the MSM bias.  #7 talks of HHS Secretary Sebelius attributing the rise in asthma to violence.  #8 looks at science which attributes the rise in asthma due to acetaminophen.  Finally #9 reviews Sarah Palin’s cohosting on the Today Show (she did well).

1.  Obama and the Democrats sharpen their knives for SCOTUS

"Ultimately I am confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented extraordinary event by overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected congress," Obama told reporters today while speaking with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon. "I'm confident that this will be upheld because it should be upheld." Obama concluded.

This statement from what the press calls a Constitutional scholar is ridiculous.  I will be upheld because it should be upheld?  What law book did he find that in?  An unprecedented event?  Since when is the Supreme Court ruling a law is unconstitutional unprecedented?  But a president attacking a SCOTUS decisions before it is announced isn’t unprecedented, but it is rare.

2.  Barack Obama and the end of the Progressive Era

The people of a nation that has experienced unprecedented peace and prosperity for an extended period of time are often lulled to sleep, believing there will never be an end to their good fortune. Many powerful countries throughout history have floundered and decayed as they gradually descended into chaos, not realizing the ultimate fate that awaited them. However, the United States has been granted an opportunity to escape this fate through what appears to be a long-term disaster potentially turning out to be its long-term salvation. That event is the election of Barack Obama as president.

Over the past fifty years, regardless of who was in the White House or in charge of Congress, no one has been able to halt the incessant spread of left-wing radicalism in the nation's institutions, as well as the exponential growth of a federal government with its tentacles increasingly intertwined in the day-to-day lives of all Americans. As long as the people remained largely disengaged, the potential damage to society as a whole and to the financial health of the country was unknown to the vast majority of the population.

Over the past three years, this indifference has begun to change as the reality of the nation's future and the motives and tactics of those on the left have come into focus. But that reality has come to the fore solely as the result of the aggressive implementation of left-wing policies by the current administration combined with a two-year Democrat supermajority in Congress which allowed the progressives to pursue their vision of America unopposed and unencumbered…

http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/04/barack_obama_and_the_end_of_the_progressive_era.html#ixzz1qyTDFe83

What is ironic is how the left is unhappy with Obama for not being more leftist in his policies.  They see him as too willing to compromise rather than being too leftist for the country.  He will be the last democrat to be elected President for quite a while and it won’t be because he was too moderate.

3.   Worst Recession since the Depression or worst recovery ever?

How many times have we heard that this was the worst recession since the Great Depression? That may be true—although the double-dip recession of the early 1980s was about comparable. Less publicized is that our current recovery pales in comparison with most other recoveries, including the one following the Great Depression.

The Great Depression started with major economic contractions in 1930, '31, '32 and '33. In the three following years, the economy rebounded strongly with growth rates of 11%, 9% and 13%, respectively.

The current recovery began in the second half of 2009, but economic growth has been weak. Growth in 2010 was 3% and in 2011 it was 1.7%. Who knows what 2012 will bring, but the current growth rate looks to be about 2%, according to the consensus of economists recently polled by Blue Chip Economic Indicators. Sadly, we have never really recovered from the recession. The economy has not even returned to its long-term growth rate and is certainly not making up for lost ground. No doubt, there are favorable economic numbers to be found, but overall we continue to struggle….

Expect to hear more about this when the election gets closer.  That is why Obama is a goner.

4.  Why are liberals so unpleasant to be around?

1) They're unhappy: Study after study shows that conservatives are happier people than liberals. The difference can be staggering….

2) Liberals don't care as much about tradition: Although it goes without saying that people who worship change for change's sake don't care very much about customs, you might wonder why that would make such a big difference. Well, as Thomas Sowell has noted, "Civilization has been aptly called a 'thin crust over a volcano.' The anointed are constantly picking at that crust."

In many cases, societal conventions represent the accumulated wisdom of previous generations...

3) Liberals see people who disagree as evil: Liberals see themselves as part of a Manichean struggle in which they’re trying to create Utopia on earth while they’re being opposed by people who want to do evil for evil’s sake. In other words, liberals are about as complex as your average comic book from the fifties. …

4) Liberals aren't very religious: Liberals are overwhelmingly either atheists or agnostics, people who don't take their religious beliefs very seriously in the first place, or people who allow their ideology to completely subvert their religious beliefs. This is no small matter because religion is one of the great civilizing forces….

5) Liberalism encourages arrogance: Liberals tend to believe they're brilliant, compassionate, moral, enlightened, perceptive, and courageous, not because of anything they've actually done, but just because they're liberal. When you completely divorce a person's self image from his behavior, it produces terrible results -- like liberals who hurl abuse at conservative women while believing that they're feminists or selfish left-wingers who've never given a dime to charity, but believe themselves to be much more compassionate than people who tithe 10% of their income.

Now, on some level, liberals know this is all a big sham…

A well written look at liberalism to which I concur.  I especially thought point 2 was very insightful.  Robert Kennedy is quoted as saying, “Some men see things as they are and say why. I dream things that never were and say why not.”  I find this to be the epitome of stupidity.  If you study history you will find why not.  Most things Kennedy and other liberals dream of have been shown to not work.

5.  As if the price of gasoline isn’t high enough

The Interior Department announces a five-year environmental study of offshore oil sites along the Atlantic coast with possible drilling off the Old Dominion in 2018 — only seven years after a promised lease sale.

Despite taking credit for rising oil production on private and state lands he has nothing to do with, and claiming he supports opening up areas for domestic exploration as part of his "all-of-the-above" energy policy, President Obama in fact despises domestic fossil fuel production and moves to block it at every opportunity.

During a visit to Norfolk, Va., last week, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management director Tommy Beaudreau released a draft document for public comment on plans for oil exploration, drilling and possible lease sales off the Atlantic coast from Florida to New Jersey.

It's yet another delaying tactic, part of the administration's study forever, drill never strategy.

The Interior Department announcement set in motion a five-year environmental and seismic study of offshore areas, including off the Virginia coast, but no actual lease sales and drilling. Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell notes that a planned lease sale, which the administration canceled last year, will now be put off until at least 2018…

Waste money on favored contributors and unproven technology while turning down proven technology that will create good jobs seems to be the MO for this administration.  In the meantime the EPA has attacked West Virginia and coal in general.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see Joe Manchin change parties.

6.  Former Treasurer Tim Cahill indicted over Lottery ads

Running $1.5 million in ads that pumped up leadership at the Lottery while Timothy P. Cahill was waging a losing campaign for governor is at the heart of today’s indictment of the former state treasurer, Attorney General Martha Coakley said.

Cahill, 53, who left office after the failed run for the Corner Office, was charged with procurement fraud and criminal ethics violations for using the taxpayer cash to lift his profile, the AG alleged at an afternoon press conference. Cahill faces up to five years in jail and a $10,00 fine for each count if found guilty….

http://news.bostonherald.com/news/politics/view/20220402source_former_treasurer_tim_cahill_indicted/srvc=home&position=0

Why I posted this was not for the story, but rather what isn’t mentioned.  I was going to go to the point where they mentioned what party Cahill was in, but that never came.  I had to go online to find out he was a Democrat.  Of course I really didn’t have to go online to find that out.  It was conspicuous in its absence.

7.  Sebelius warns violence leads to asthma

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said on Monday that youth violence is a “chronic health issue” that can lead to asthma, obesity, or depression for "the youth who are involved," although she did not make clear whether she was speaking solely about the victims of youth violence or the perpetrators or both.

“But it's important to remember--you just heard from the law enforcement side of this--it’s important to remember that the costs of violence go beyond deaths or injuries or tolls on families and communities,” Sebelius said at a Department of Justice conference Monday on youth violence. “Violence is also a chronic health issue.”

“It leads to asthma, it leads to obesity or depression among the youth who are involved,” Sebelius said at the event in Washington, D.C…

Sebelius appears to be a fool.  Although it has been known that violence could increase the symptoms of asthma, there is very little evidence that it causes asthma.  If you want to know the cause for the increase in asthma read on.

8.  What is the best guess as to the cause of Asthma?

A story in the New York Times reported on this recently. The idea is that acetaminophen causes asthma. In the 1980's, when the epidemic began, doctors started recommending that parents treat their infants' pain and fever with acetaminophen rather than aspirin because aspirin had been found to cause Reyes’Syndrome.  So, Tylenol sales took off. And, not too long after that, so did inhaler sales. More than 20 STUDIES that show this association have now been published, and it's starting to look strong, not only based on epidemiological measures such as the strength of the association (the strength of the association between air pollution and low risk was strong too, but more on that below), but with a fairly substantial understanding of the biological mechanism that could explain the risk.

In fact, acetaminophen has a strong likelihood of a causal relationship, but no one truly knows the cause.  But for the Secretary of HHS to say violence causes asthma is like the people who insist salt causes high blood pressure.  It doesn’t, but it makes people with high blood pressure get even higher blood pressure from retained water.

9.  Sarah Palin and the Today Show

… All in all, Palin put in a more than solid performance. She never seemed to be on the defensive, never seemed put out by any of the subtle and overt hostility around her, and was never shy about advancing conservatives and conservatism. During the segment on Oprah’s flailing network, for instance, while lauding Winfrey’s entrepreneurial spirit and her honesty in admitting mistakes, Palin said that she hoped the network would succeed and that Winfrey would get some conservative shows on. Deutsch lamely jumped in and said Oprah should hire liberals, but no one on the set even paid attention to him. With good reason, too, since Deutsch’s own show is little watched, and Winfrey has already tried liberals like Rosie O’Donnell, and has already failed with them. Going to the middle or right would at least be a creative choice for Winfrey to consider. Palin’s advice was thus an advancement of conservatism and practical advice for Winfrey to turn her flailing network around. One only needs to look at the failure of Air America, the struggles of leftward tilting MSNBC, the dominance of Fox News Channel, and conservatives in talk radio to see that Palin knows what she’s talking about, purely from a programming perspective.

Palin was quick witted, informed, personable, and beautiful guest hosting Today. She looked like she belonged there and brought a different energy to the show. Once she was gone, Today quickly returned to its blandly liberal self. Whoever came up with the idea of having her guest host deserves credit for thinking creatively and boldly to bring her in. It was a good show all around.

It was a good idea to have her guest host, but I’m sure liberals are disappointed that she didn’t fall flat on her face.  As it is now, some smart TV people may want her to host her own morning TV show.  From the left’s point of view it was a lose/lose proposition.

Do you feel lucky? Obamacare and more

What’s new Today

Story #1 tells you where James Madison stands on Obamacare.  #2  tells you where SCOTUS stands on Obamacare.  #3 gives a few facts regarding the Trayvon killing in Florida.  #4 shows another democrat calling people who disagree with her names (that isn’t much of a shock).  #5 is an article a heartily encourage you to read.  It hits the nail on the head.  #6 is a side argument, really from yesterday and today on Obamacare.  When is a tax, not a tax?  #7 discusses Obama’s biggest gaffe.  #8 looks at Barack Obama, support of the oil industry!  #9 has Dennis Prager’s evaluation of the left and their view of the world.

1.  Madison and Obamacare

The shade of James Madison hovers over the Obamacare argument at the Supreme Court.

It is the system of limited and carefully divided government powers that he had a large hand in crafting — and defended so ably in the Federalist Papers— that is at stake in the contest over the constitutionality of the individual mandate.

If the mandate stands, it will be the latest blow to Madison’s scheme, which is the best architecture for self-government yet devised by man, but has been steadily worn down over time. It is a damning indictment of contemporary Washington that, overall, it is so hostile to the Madisonian ethos. He is a most inconvenient Founding Father since he tells us: No, the federal government can’t do whatever it wants; no, we can’t just all get along; no, we can’t rush to pass whatever legislation is deemed a “can’t wait” priority by the president. Now, grow up…

To the left, the Constitution is the problem.  It keeps them from doing whatever they want when they are in power.  But this function of the Constitution keeps all of us safer and more free.

2.  Day 2: Obamacare and SCOTUS

The Supreme Court's conservative justices Tuesday laid into the requirement in the Obama administration's healthcare law that Americans have health insurance, as the court began a much-anticipated second day of arguments on the controversial legislation.

Even before the administration's top lawyer could get three minutes into his defense of the mandate, some justices accused the government of pushing for excessive authority to require Americans to buy anything.

"Are there any limits," asked Justice Anthony Kennedy, one of three conservative justices whose votes are seen as crucial to the fate of the unprecedented insurance mandate.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. suggested that the government might require Americans to buy cellphones to be ready for emergencies. And Justice Antonin Scalia asked if the government might require Americans to buy broccoli or automobiles.

"If the government can do this, what else can it ... do?” Scalia asked…

The headline called today a very bad day for the Obama Mandate.  The breakdown by the Justices seems to be the predictable ones with 4 Conservative vs 4 Liberals who appear will vote as expected.  In view of some of the question by Justice Kennedy it certainly appears to be a very bad day for Obamacare’s mandate.

3.  Police: Zimmerman says Trayvon decked him with one blow then began hammering his head

With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk, leaving him bloody and battered, law enforcement authorities have revealed to the Orlando Sentinel.

That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say. There have been no reports that a witness saw that initial punch Zimmerman told police about.

Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened Feb. 26. But that night, and in later meetings, he described and re-enacted for police what he says took place.

In his version of events, he had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him….

… Police have been reluctant to provide details about their evidence.

But after the Sentinel story appeared on the newspaper's website Monday morning, City Manager Norton Bonaparte Jr. issued a news release, saying there would be an internal affairs investigation into the source of the leak and if identified, the person or people involved would be disciplined.

He did not challenge the accuracy of the information.

At a Monday news conference, Trayvon's mother, father and their lawyers called the report that their son was suspended from school because of a marijuana baggy irrelevant and needlessly hurtful.

Trayvon's father Tracy Martin, said "even in death, they are still disrespecting my son, and I feel that that's a sin."

His mother, Sybrina Fulton, said, "They killed my son and now they're trying to kill his reputation."

Supporters have held rallies in Sanford, Miami, New York and Tallahassee, calling the case a tragic miscarriage of injustice….

This is beginning to look a lot like the Duke Lacrosse case. There is an assumption which has been enough to get Al Sharpton involved (beware of the facts when he’s there).  Let’s get all the facts before we do anything.

4.  Pennsylvania State Rep. Calls Pro-Life Women 'Men with Breasts'

Speaking at a rally today, Pennsylvania State Representative Babette Josephs suggested that pro-life women are not in fact women, but 'men with breasts'. Apparently women cannot be truly women unless they support unfettered abortion.

Josephs' remarks came at a political rally sponsored by the Lancaster County Democratic Committee, in which she accused Republicans in control of the state Senate and state House of turning Pennsylvania into a "laboratory for the right-wing. They're trying all these experiments on us."

Then, she took specific aim at women lawmakers who co-sponsored the ultrasound bill, asking rhetorically, "I do not understand how a woman in this Legislature can say to herself: 'I'm not capable of making my own health decisions... but I can get elected and make them for somebody else.'

"What is wrong with these women? What are they thinking about?" Josephs continued. "Are they women? Or are they men with breasts."

It’s funny of the left thinks that abortion is the only place where a person can make their own decisions.  They certainly believe in regulating just about everything else. And Ms Joseph appears to be a typical name calling leftist who doesn’t seem to be able to articulate a decent argument to support her political doctrine.

5.  Five Truths about the Left they don’t want you to know

“When one becomes a liberal, he or she pretends to advocate tolerance, equality and peace, but hilariously, they’re doing so for purely selfish reasons. It’s the human equivalent of a puppy dog’s face: an evolutionary tool designed to enhance survival, reproductive value and status. In short, liberalism is based on one central desire: to look cool in front of others in order to get love. Preaching tolerance makes you look cooler, than saying something like, “please lower my taxes” — Greg Gutfeldt

1. Most liberals are hateful people. Who are the most hateful people you can think of off the top of your head? If you're not a liberal, the first people that probably come to mind are the God hates f@gs lunatics from Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church. What type of human beings would do sick protests at funerals? Well, liberals have their own version of this. Whenever a prominent conservative gets sick or dies, there's an orgy of celebratory hatred on the Left. It happened with Reagan, Tony Snow, Breitbart and every other big name conservative in between.

Bill Maher, Barney Frank, Michael Moore, Keith Olbermann, Amanda Marcotte, Ed Schultz, Dan Savage, Ted Rall, Al Sharpton, etc., etc. are some of the most hate-filled people you'll ever run into outside of a maximum security prison, but liberals consider it to be okay because their hate is aimed at conservatives, who are acceptable targets. …

2) Liberals do more than any other group to encourage race-based hatred. It's amazing how much we still hear about Nazis and the KKK, even though they're both marginalized, nearly powerless groups of misfits and losers. On the other hand, how marginalized are the hatemongers on the Left? MEChA is allowed in public schools, Al Sharpton is on TV every night, and Democratic congressmen are still willing to appear on stage with Louis Farrakhan….

3) Most liberals are less moral than other people. You won't see liberals being accused of being hypocritical if it turns out that they don't have "good family values," commit adultery, or don't live up to their Christian beliefs because they don't really buy into any of those things….

4) Most liberals don't care if the policies they advocate work or not. This may seem like an alien concept to a lot of people, but liberals don't push policies based on whether they improve people's lives or not. To the contrary, liberals support policies that make them feel good about themselves or alternately, help cement liberals in power….

5) Most liberals are extremely intolerant. Liberals talk incessantly about tolerance and yet they lash out whenever anyone dares to present a view that doesn't toe the liberal line. Conservative college speakers usually need extra security because budding liberal fascists often try to shout them down or assault them. Liberals desperately try to censor talk radio…

… To liberals, tolerance is, by definition, whatever their opinion happens to be. So, to be tolerant, you have to agree with them. People who don't even know what tolerance is shouldn't be lecturing everyone else on the subject…

If you want a current example of point number 1 look at the tweets regarding VP Cheney’s heart transplant.  Liberals should be ashamed of themselves, but apparently they don’t have the ability to feel shame.

6.  When is a tax not a tax

…In defending the law, the Justice Department has taken a legal position — that the health care act constitutes a tax — that contradicts the political stance taken by President Obama. To do that, it has relied on legal semantics to argue that the insurance mandate will be enforced through the tax code even though Congress took pains to label it a penalty and not a tax.

After losing that argument in a lower court, the government’s lawyers switched positions to agree with the plaintiffs that the litigation was not blocked by the Anti-Injunction Act. But in its brief to the Supreme Court, the administration argued that while the penalty was not a tax that would fall under the Anti-Injunction Act, it should be viewed as a tax when the court considers on Tuesday whether the mandate is permitted under Congress’s broad authority to levy taxes.

In other words, the Justice Department is essentially arguing that the penalty is not a tax, except when the government says it is one.

Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. was quick to highlight the seeming contradiction during Monday’s session. “Today you are arguing that the penalty is not a tax,” he told Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli Jr., the administration’s lead advocate. “Tomorrow you are going to be back and you will be arguing that the penalty is a tax. Has the court ever held that something that is a tax for purposes of the taxing power under the Constitution is not a tax under the Anti-Injunction Act?” …

This probably is the best illustration of the left’s logic.  They are very flexible in what they will say as long as it gets them what they want.  In other words, you can’t believe a thing they say.

7.  Obama’s biggest Gaffe?

Barack Obama has, like most in public life, made his share of gaffes--the president of Canada, 57 states, the Austrian language, E Pluribus Unum, the pronunciation of corpsman, among others. To be sure, they are stunning signs of ignorance of things that are common wisdom for most, even Harvard alums.

Closet Obama supporters will seek to downplay the incident. But his Monday mis-step is huge politically and may well come to haunt and hurt him as Republican Mitt Romney rolls out the attack plan for this fall's campaign and before. Of all the GOP wannabes, Romney has been Obama's most outspoken critic, especially on the Democrat's "failed leadership" in foreign policy.

A main strain of Romney's assaults has been basically, given the spending, chronic ineptness and apologies for America, can you imagine what Barack Obama would do in a second term unrestrained by any need to face voters ever again?

That's an effective line because it leaves the worst things possible to voters' imagination. And there is no response. What can Obama say, "My secret plans aren't as bad as you think."

What makes Obama's Monday blunder so bad is that it doesn't come from any sort of dismissable ignorance by someone who spent formative childhood years in Indonesia. It was clearly backstage conniving on Obama's part and feeds directly into Romney's 'Can you imagine' line…

You are going to hear a lot of this in the coming election.  It’s an enormous gaffe which says Obama will be less responsive to rather than more responsive in his second term.  And his record for being responsive to the majority in the first term is pathetic.

8.  Obama:  Oil supporter?

… But Obama wasn't in Cushing because he has approved so much new pipeline. He was there because he is facing bipartisan opposition, in Congress and across the country, for blocking the proposed Keystone XL pipeline that would bring about 700,000 barrels of oil from Canada to refineries in Texas every day, creating thousands of new jobs in the process. The opposition appears to be growing, and there's good reason to believe Obama will be forced to reverse himself in the next few months.

A new Gallup poll shows that 57 percent of Americans say the government should approve building Keystone. That number includes 81 percent of Republicans, 51 percent of independents and 44 percent (a plurality) of Democrats. The only good news for the White House is that most Americans aren't following the issue very closely, at least not yet…

… Recently, Senate Republicans forced a vote on a proposal to approve Keystone. The final vote was 56 - 42, with 11 Democrats breaking with the president to vote in favor of the pipeline. The only reason it didn't pass was that the Democratic leadership filibustered the measure, requiring 60 votes for passage. (Liberal critics of the filibuster, so angry when Republicans used it to block Democratic measures, were uncharacteristically silent after the vote.)

If Obama has already lost 11 Democratic votes, with the election still several months away, it's likely he is going to lose more in the future. "Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said after the last vote that the issue would not be going away," says a Senate GOP source. "There is strong bipartisan support, and we'll have more shots at this."

In coming months, Republicans can likely count on the support of more and more Americans who are more and more angry about rising gas prices. As the general election campaign begins, Obama will face determined arguments from Republicans that in his desire to promote green energy -- Obama will hear the word "Solyndra" many, many times this fall -- he is standing in the way of making America more self-sufficient in oil and gas. It won't matter how many photo-ops he stages in front of piles of pipes. In the end, he'll have to say yes to Keystone.

Obama has so many issues going against him in the Fall, but the price of gasoline is the one that Americans face every day when they fill up their cars.

9.  To the left, it’s nothing but luck

Dennis Prager looks at how the left views affluence.  They seem to think the affluent are simply more “fortunate” or lucky.

Somehow I am reminded of the old saying, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”
