2012 winning the future

Not what the Democrats had in mind
No wonder the Democrats hate and fear Sarah Palin

Well, speaking of last night, that was a tough speech to sit through and try to stomach because the president is so off base in his ideas in how it is HE BELIEVES GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO CREATE JOBS. Obviously, government growth won’t create any jobs. It’s the private sector that can create the jobs. His theme last night in the State of the Union was the WTF, you know, “Winning the Future,” and I thought OK, that acronym, spot on. There WERE A LOT OF WTF MOMENTS THROUGHOUT THAT SPEECH.”

http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/01/whoa-sarah-palin-on-obamas-wtf-speech-wtf-was-right-on-video/

I don’t think this is what the Obama speech writers had in mind when they plagiarized this little ditty. And once again, Sarah Palin becomes a political master of using language to make a point.

A detailed look at the Rand Paul spending bill

Want to save $500 billion this year? Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has a way to do it.

Notes: The Government Printing Office is abolished.

JUDICIAL BRANCH......................................$2,434,000,000. (32%)

AGRICULTURE............................................$42,542,000,000. (30%)

Well worth the read. I especially like cutting out the energy department completely and most of the education department. Both of left wing sacred cows that really don’t help the country.

We have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it

TWO OF THE CENTRAL PROMISES OF PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA'S HEALTH CARE OVERHAUL LAW ARE UNLIKELY TO BE FULFILLED, Medicare's independent economic expert told Congress on Wednesday.

The landmark legislation PROBABLY WON'T HOLD COSTS DOWN, AND IT WON'T LET EVERYBODY KEEP THEIR CURRENT HEALTH INSURANCE if they like it, CHIEF ACTUARY RICHARD FOSTER TOLD THE HOUSE BUDGET COMMITTEE. His office is responsible for independent long-range cost estimates. . . .

Foster was asked by Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., for a simple true or false response on two of the main assertions made by supporters of the law: that it will bring down unsustainable medical costs and will let people keep their current health insurance if they like it.

On the costs issue, "I would say false, more so than true," Foster responded……

McCLINTOCK: "The other promise... was the promise that if you like your plan, you can keep it. True or false?"

FOSTER: "Not true in all cases."

Obamacare is unraveling. It was sold under false pretenses, evaluated by the CBO with questionable assumptions, and pushed through congress using bribery and threats to House and Senate members.

Economic ignorance and the Democrat agenda

President Barack Obama is very insistent on the need to “save American jobs.” The spending and THE BUY AMERICAN PROVISIONS OF HIS MASSIVE STIMULUS PACKAGE, APPROVED BY CONGRESS IN FEBRUARY, WERE MEANT TO “CREATE OR SAVE” MILLIONS OF U.S. JOBS. “Saving jobs” was also the stated goal of his recent pledge TO ELIMINATE TAX ADVANTAGES FOR COMPANIES THAT DO BUSINESS OVERSEAS. But instead of saving American jobs, Obama’s new corporate tax is apt to worsen what is already the highest unemployment since 1983 and make America’s companies even less competitive in the global marketplace.

Last spring, partly in response to the anti-bailout tea parties that were sweeping through the country on and around the April 15 tax deadline, the president announced that he plans to simplify the tax code. That sounds like a worthwhile goal, but it turns out that FOR OBAMA, SIMPLIFICATION MEANS TAXING PREVIOUSLY UNTAXED INCOME.

For instance, the proposal targets what executives consider to be a lifesaving feature of an otherwise depressing corporate tax code: PERMISSION TO INDEFINITELY DEFER PAYING U.S. TAXES ON INCOME EARNED OVERSEAS. According to the Obama administration, this practice keeps $700 billion or more of American corporate earnings in overseas accounts, beyond the taxman’s reach.

The president also wants to overhaul WHAT HE DESCRIBES AS A “MUCH-ABUSED” SET OF TAX REGULATIONS KNOWN AS THE “CHECK-THE-BOX” RULES. These regulations give companies some latitude in deciding where their subsidiaries will be taxed and make it easier for multinationals to transfer money between countries. The result, which Obama frowns upon, is that many companies have placed their offshore subsidiaries in low-tax countries.

While he’s at it, THE PRESIDENT WANTS TO RESTRICT TAX CREDITS THAT THE U.S. GRANTS COMPANIES TO OFFSET TAXES THEY PAY TO FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS.

An excellent article that lays out the simplemindedness of many liberals regarding taxation.

A new explanation of why the Democrats lost last November

We can begin by stipulating that CONGRESSMAN JIM MORAN (D-VA) is a disgusting human being. But is he this disgusting? He gave an interview to Alhurra, an Arab television network that, as AllahPundit notes, was founded as an American-supported alternative to Al Jazeera. Moran is asked about the Republican sweep, and he answers--I think--as follows:

It [the Republican successes in the 2010 elections] happened for the same reason the Civil War happened in the United States. IT HAPPENED BECAUSE THE SOUTHERN STATES, THE SLAVEHOLDING STATES, DIDN'T WANT TO SEE A PRESIDENT WHO WAS OPPOSED TO SLAVERY.

In this case, I believe, A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE UNITED STATES DON'T WANT TO BE GOVERNED BY AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN, PARTICULARLY ONE WHO IS LIBERAL, WHO WANTS TO SPEND MONEY AND WHO WANTS TO REACH OUT TO INCLUDE EVERYONE IN OUR SOCIETY....
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/01/028217.php

It appears the left isn’t satisfied with comparing the right to Nazis. We’ve now gone back and compared them to the Democratic slaveholders during the Civil War.

Follow the money

Employees and political action committees of organizations that make up the big four special interests that own the Democratic Party contributed hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions to the party's federal candidates in 2010.

THE TOP 20 LABOR UNIONS, FOR EXAMPLE, GAVE MORE THAN $68 MILLION IN 2010, with 94 percent of the total going to Democrats and just 4 percent to Republicans. Most of the total, 88 percent, came from PACs associated with the top 20 unions, while the remaining 12 percent came from individual union members, according to Opensecrets.org.

Similarly, liberal ideological groups, many of which are heavily funded or otherwise closely linked with INFLUENTIAL DEMOCRATIC INSIDERS LIKE GEORGE SOROS AND DRUMMOND PIKE, GAVE MORE THAN $33 MILLION TO FEDERAL CANDIDATES IN 2010. Not surprisingly, virtually all of that money went to Democrats, according to Opensecrets.org.

But tracking campaign finance is never easy because of weaknesses of the data collection system and thanks to the creativity and regularity with which individuals and organizations across the ideological spectrum find ways in which to circumvent or otherwise compromise disclosure.....

The Examiner found that MORE THAN 2,600 INDIVIDUALS WHO LISTED THEIR EMPLOYER AS ONE OF THE TOP 110 PLAINTIFFS BAR LAW FIRMS GAVE MORE THAN $7.23 MILLION IN CONTRIBUTIONS TO FEDERAL CANDIDATES in 2010. More than 96 percent of the total went to Democrats. Independent candidates actually received more contributions from these trial lawyers than did Republicans.

There is another NEARLY $2.7 MILLION IN CONTRIBUTIONS TO FEDERAL CANDIDATES IN 2010 BY THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR JUSTICE PAC, which represents the class-action lawsuit industry in the nation's capital. Ninety-seven percent of that money went to Democrats and 3 percent to GOPers

http://washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/special-reports/2011/01/special-report-where-cash-goes-democratic-policy-flows#ixzz1CFUcEUPB

A pretty good article which quantifies the amounts of money going from special interests to the Democrat Party.

Affirmative action scandal at US Naval Academy

Professor Bruce Fleming is not your typical US Naval Academy (USNA) Professor. HE TEACHES ENGLISH AND HE ALSO HAPPENS TO BE A LIBERAL. I’ve written favorably in my books about his work because he also happens to believe in speaking the truth. And by speaking the truth about THE DIRTY SECRETS OF AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AT THE NAVAL ACADEMY, he has set off a fire storm.

Fleming wrote a piece last year exposing the fact that the USNA had a “two-tiered” system of admission that was designed to bring more minorities into the academy. And he began speaking to academy alumni about the lower standards. ”We’ll do anything to get non-white students,” he said, IN ORDER TO APPEAR MORE DIVERSE AND IMPROVE THE FOOTBALL TEAM. According to Fleming, THE ADMISSIONS SYSTEM IS TWO-TIERED BECAUSE MINORITY CANDIDATES HAVE LOWER TEST SCORES AND GRADES than their counterparts. In short, Fleming says that the Academy is rejecting better qualified white applicants to admit minority candidates with less impressive credentials. The USNA has been very aggressive on the affirmative action front in recent years. In 2009, Adm. Gary Roughead, the chief of naval operations, went so far as to say that “diversity is the No. 1 priority” at the academy. (Gee, I guess training warriors and officers is now #2).

But Fleming, who has served on the academy’s admissions board, goes even further. While white applicants are required to secure a nomination by a member of congress or other federal official, MINORITY CANDIDATES ARE SOMETIMES GIVEN WHAT HE CALLS “A PRO FORMA NOMINATION TO MAKE IT LEGIT.”…..

http://bigpeace.com/pschweizer/2011/01/27/affirmative-action-scandal-rocks-naval-academy-students-disillusioned-at-lower-admissions-standards-easier-coursework-for-minorities/

Can we tolerate affirmative action when our country’s defense is on the block?

S&P Downgrade Of Japan Roils Currency Markets

THE DOWNGRADE REFLECTS OUR APPRAISAL THAT JAPAN’S GOVERNMENT DEBT RATIOS–ALREADY AMONG THE HIGHEST FOR RATED SOVEREIGNS–will continue to rise further than we envisaged before the global economic recession hit the country and will peak only in the mid-2020s. Specifically, we expect general government fiscal deficits to fall only modestly from an estimated 9.1% of GDP in fiscal 2010 (ending March 31, 2011) to 8.0% in fiscal 2013. In the medium term, we do not forecast the government achieving a primary balance before 2020 unless a significant fiscal consolidation program is implemented beforehand.

Japan’s debt dynamics are further depressed by persistent deflation. Falling prices have matched Japan’s growth in aggregate output since 1992, meaning the size of the economy is unchanged in nominal terms. In addition, Japan’s fast-aging population challenges both its fiscal and economic outlooks. The nation’s total social security related expenses now make up 31% of the government’s fiscal 2011 budget, and this ratio will rise absent reforms beyond those enacted in 2004. An aging and shrinking labor force contributes to our modest medium-term growth estimate of around 1%.

In our opinion, the Democratic Party of Japan-led government lacks a coherent strategy to address these negative aspects of the country’s debt dynamics, in part due to the coalition having lost its majority in the upper house of parliament last summer. We think there is a low chance that the government’s announced 2011 reviews of the nation’s social security and consumption tax systems will lead to material improvements to the intertemporal solvency of the state. We even see a risk that the Diet might not approve budget-related bills for fiscal 2011, including government financing authorization. Thus, notwithstanding the still strong domestic demand for government debt and corresponding low real interest rates, we expect Japan’s fiscal flexibility to diminish.

http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110127-704673.html

Japan has long had the highest debt-to-GDP ratio in the developed world, at approximately 200 percent of GDP. (The U.S. is around 60 percent.) This is definitely a word of warning for the USA.

Islamists Never Sneak in from Mexico

U.S. border authorities have arrested a CONTROVERSIAL MUSLIM CLERIC WHO WAS DEPORTED FROM CANADA TO TUNISIA THREE YEARS AGO AND WAS CAUGHT EARLIER THIS MONTH TRYING TO SNEAK INTO CALIFORNIA INSIDE THE TRUNK OF A BMW, according to court documents.

Said Jaziri, the former Imam of a Muslim congregation in Montreal, was hidden inside a car driven by a San Diego-area man who was pulled over by U.S. Border Patrol agents near an Indian casino east of San Diego. Jaziri allegedly paid a Tijuana-based smuggling group $5,000 to get him across the border near Tecate, saying HE WANTED TO BE TAKEN TO A “SAFE PLACE ANYWHERE IN THE U.S.” .

Do we need a fence on the border? Of course we do.

Who owns the Democrats and Obama's future

Fifteen special interest heavy hitters Democrats cannot ignore

THESE 15 INDIVIDUALS ARE AMONG THE MOST IMPORTANT POWER BROKERS WITH UNDENIABLE LEVERAGE TO MOST SHAPE CAMPAIGNS, CANDIDATES AND POLICIES IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. There are other Democratic heavy hitters, to be sure, but these 15 are must-haves on any list of those who cannot be ignored.

Big Lawyers:

Come July, the American Association for Justice, the chief political and lobbying voice of the class-action trial lawyers industry, will be headed by GARY M. PAUL, a name partner in a firm -- Waters, Kraus and Paul in Los Angeles -- that proudly claims to have filed more class action asbestos plaintiffs suits than any other firm in the country.

MEMBERS OF PAUL'S FIRM CONTRIBUTED AT LEAST $366,000 TO POLITICAL CANDIDATES DURING THE 2010 CAMPAIGN, with more than $364,000 of the total going to Democratic candidates and committees. And the AAJ PAC is the biggest among all legal PACs, according to OpenSecrets.org, giving more than $2.7 million in 2010 contributions, all but $68,500 going to Democrats......

Big Labor

Big Green

Big Insiders

This is a do not miss article. You will get the names, contributions, etc. that make these people the heavy hitters the Democrats can’t ignore. And there is a bonus section at the end with 25 major players beyond the 15.

A spotter's guide to the Left's side of the political universe

The quick analysis is that special interests have set the agenda of the White House and Congress for the past two years, isolating the Democratic Party on the Left, abandoned by the center and the Right.

BUT WHAT IS THIS "LEFT" WHERE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN MAROONED? WHAT IS ITS STRUCTURE AND AGENDA?

The agenda is the easy part. The last two years of White House and congressional actions can be accurately summed up in two words: MORE GOVERNMENT.

The structure of the Left, however, is harder to sort out, especially when seeking to identify leaders with sufficient clout among key leaders in the White House and Congress to capture the elite level of the Democratic Party.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/special-reports/2011/01/special-report-spotters-guide-lefts-side-political-universe#ixzz1C9C5wUHH

Today’s Democrat Party is far more leftist than any time in its history. What’s caused that and what does it mean to the party?

Is today 1979, or 1995?

In 1979, of course, Jimmy Carter was the incumbent President, and NO SOPHISTICATED, INTELLIGENT PERSON IN WASHINGTON THOUGHT RONALD REAGAN HAD A SERIOUS CHANCE OF BEATING HIM. The RNC was convinced Reagan would be another Goldwater, and its entire focus was to deny him the 1980 nomination. You know what happened.

In 1995, President Clinton had just suffered a shocking, historic defeat in the midterms, with the Republicans taking both houses of Congress for the first time in 40 years. At first, he seemed to be on the same trajectory as Carter. BUT HE PIVOTED TO EMBRACE THE POLICIES OF THE NEW REPUBLICAN CONGRESS, WHILE STILL MANAGING TO PLAY OFF THEM TO HOLD HIS DEMOCRAT PARTY BASE. The Republicans nominated the clueless Bob Dole in 1996, and you know what happened.

Hence the question, is today 1979, or 1995? You can't answer that question by looking at where we are today. YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THE UNDERLYING TRENDS TO GAUGE WHERE WE ARE GOING TO BE IN THE FALL OF 2012.

http://spectator.org/archives/2011/01/26/why-today-is-1979-not-1995

Will Obama be Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton. You have to read this article to get the author’s take on it.

A Quick 65 Points (!)

By Jay Nordlinger

Well, like you, maybe, I watched the State of the Union address, and also the Republican response. AS I WAS WATCHING, I JOTTED NOTES, WHICH I SHARE WITH YOU NOW. As usual with these things — major addresses, presidential debates — I have read no commentary before launching my own. What others think, I don’t know. I’ll get to them sometime later…..

…..22) I HATE THIS US-AGAINST-THE-WORLD STUFF. Like we’re in some kind of economic Olympics with other countries. It’s not true. Prosperity, economic vitality, is a shared blessing; it is not zero-sum. We rejoice in others’ success, and we continue to succeed our own bad selves. Small, small, what Obama is saying. I have a feeling he does not comprehend abundance.

America is bigger than envying, or worrying about, other countries. I’M REMINDED TONIGHT OF THE 1988 DEMOCRATIC PRIMARIES — WHEN GEPHARDT AND DUKAKIS AND THOSE GUYS KEPT TALKING ABOUT THE RISING SUN (JAPAN), WHOSE HEAT WOULD MELT US ALL. CRIPE.

23) In many sentences, Obama is giving a Republican address. REAGANESQUE, KEMPESQUE — Chamber of Commerce-y.

24) OBAMA IS HAILING OUR FREE-ENTERPRISE SYSTEM? Has he recently joined Rotary? What will his friends in academia say? Is he going to maintain this pose through the ’12 election? If so, we — we Republicans — may be done for . . .

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/258028/quick-65-points-jay-nordlinger#more

This is a fun read.

SOTU: Plagiarized?

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, what can be said of plagiarism? President Obama’s second State of the Union address CONTAINED ENOUGH RECYCLED IDEAS AND LINES LIFTED FROM SPEECHES OF OTHERS TO MAKE HISTORIANS WINCE. I suppose this is what one does when one not only has nothing new to say, but is required by custom and Constitution to come forth with a report of some kind by a certain time and day.

Had Obama or his writers been considerate enough to have informed listeners of where some of the president’s best lines and offered-up ideas originated, the speech might be remembered for its cutting and pasting of great and not-so-great moments of the past performance of others. AFTER QUOTING ROBERT KENNEDY EARLY ON, OBAMA TRIED TO HAVE HIS LISTENERS BELIEVE THAT EVERYTHING ELSE HE SAID THAT WE MIGHT REMEMBER WERE HIS OR HIS WRITERS’ CREATIONS. Had the president submitted the text of his second State of the Union Address in the form of a college term paper, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SENT FORTHWITH TO THE NEAREST ACADEMIC DEAN. Once again, our public affairs are such that we have one standard for presidents and another for undergraduates. Now is as good a time as any to let Obama’s listeners in on what the late Paul Harvey would have termed “the rest of the story.”

http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/alvin-felzenberg/2011/01/26/obamas-state-of-the-union-was-tantamount-to-plagiarism

This isn’t the first time, BHO has flagrantly “borrowed” lines, ideas, and even whole paragraphs from another speaker. I’ve made this a don’t miss (red headline) so you can see just how much he did plagiarized.

Regulatory review: Look out EPA!

On Wednesday, the House Subcommittee on Government Oversight and Investigations met for the first time this year to discuss President Obama’s executive order to review of all federal regulation. Among the Republican majority on the subcommittee, there was clear consensus: REGULATORY UNCERTAINTY HAS BEEN HARMFUL FOR THE ECONOMY AND NEW REGULATIONS FROM THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY (EPA) NEED THOROUGH SCRUTINY.

Rep. Cliff Stearns, chairman of the subcommittee, pointed out in his opening statement that in THE REGULATORY AGENDA RELEASED LAST FALL, THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION REVEALED IT WAS DEVELOPING MORE THAN 4,000 NEW RULES. The EPA alone has implemented 928 new regulations in the last two years.

Stearns went on to call the number of new regulations “breathtaking, given the nation’s dire economic situation.”

http://dailycaller.com/2011/01/26/republicans-begin-process-of-regulatory-review-with-eye-trained-on-environemntal-protection-agency/#ixzz1CBOaVKMZ

Hmmm, so they can’t get the people’s representatives to pass these laws, so they plan to do it be executive fiat. The last election was definitely a restraining order.

The Obama Presidency remains in a dangerous state of denial

If there is one big takeaway from Barack Obama’s State of the Union address last night, it is that THIS PRESIDENCY REMAINS IN A COMPLETE STATE OF DENIAL REGARDING THE MASSIVE THREAT THE UNITED STATES FACES WITH ITS BUDGET DEFICIT. Obama’s speech was a major lost opportunity to address the number one menace to America’s long-term prosperity – the towering mountain of debt. Ironically, Obama’s head in the sand speech came just a day before the release of the Congressional Budget Office’s latest economic outlook, which revealed that the deficits generated under the Obama administration are the largest since 1945…..

The losers

Biden once again opens his mouth and mistakenly speaks the truth

“Folks,” continued the vice president. “If we allow this to be a referendum
on whether people are happy where they are now, we’ll lose, and we’ll deserve to lose if we make it a referendum. … We have to do everything we can to make this a choice, an honest choice.”

Joe Biden seems to be like Cassandra. He keeps putting his foot in his mouth, but no one pays attention to him.

In what only can be considered to be more bad news for the party in power, consumer confidence has dropped to its lowest level since February.

NEW YORK (AP) - Americans' view of the economy turned grimmer in
September amid escalating job worries, falling to the lowest point since
February.

The downbeat report, released Tuesday, raises more fears about the
tenuous U.S. economic recovery. It also further underscores the disconnect
between Wall Street and Main Street; consumers' confidence fell further even as
stocks rebounded in September.

The Conference Board, based in New York, said its monthly Consumer
Confidence Index now stands at 48.5, down from the revised 53.2 in August.
Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters were expecting 52.5.

The reading marked the lowest point since February's 46.4. It takes a
reading of 90 to indicate a healthy economy - a level not approached since the
recession began in December 2007

Morris on the coming election

Thanks to the leadership of President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and
Majority Leader Reid, the Democratic Party is facing the biggest defeat in
midterm elections in the past 110 years, perhaps surpassing the modern record of
a 74-seat gain set in 1922. They will also lose control of the
Senate.

Republicans are now leading in 54 Democratic House districts. In 19
more, the incumbent congressman is under 50 percent and his GOP challenger is
within five points. That makes 73 seats where victory is within easy grasp for
the Republican Party. The only reason the list is not longer is that there are
160 Democratic House districts that were considered so strongly blue that there
is no recent polling available.

I also see a tsunami coming the Democrats way, but I’m not sure I see the number of loses for the Democrats as Morris does. I’m thinking more in the 60 seat range.

For Obama, Even the Good News Is Bad

"Young People and Minorities Are All the President Has Left" is the
arresting headline on the National Journal's new poll of Americans,
conducted with the Pew Research Center.

The survey found that the president still retains support among
voters under 30 who helped elect him in 2008, but even there his excellent or
good job rating is only 45%, as opposed to 47% who rate him fair or poor. His
worst numbers are with voters aged 50 to 64, only 34% of whom rate him
positively.

Minority voters are still solidly behind the president, with 76% of blacks expressing approval. A majority of Hispanic voters also still approve.
But among non-Hispanic whites, the bottom has
dropped out. Only 30% score Mr. Obama positively, with 66% rating him fair or poor. Opinions among white voters vary with education but the news isn't
good for Mr. Obama. White women who are college graduates give him a 39%
positive job rating, while he wins 31% of white men with a similar
educational background. White voters without a college degree
have become the biggest headache for the Obama White House: only 31% of women who fit that description rate the president well and only 22% of men.

Those kinds of numbers explain the panic setting into Democratic ranks this fall. In this election cycle, a disproportionate number of key Senate and House races are taking place in areas with older voters and few minorities. Those also are the same areas where voters appear to be most dissatisfied with Democratic rule and most eager to send a message this November

And the bad news gets worse

Many wealthy Democratic patrons, who in the past have
played major roles financing outside groups to help elect the party’s
candidates, are largely sitting out these crucial midterm elections.

Democratic donors like George Soros, the bĂȘte noire of the right,
and his fellow billionaire Peter Lewis, who each gave more than $20 million to
Democratic-oriented groups in the 2004 election, appear to be holding back so
far.

We keep reading about a civil war in the Republican Party with the old guard vs the Tea Party. But the real civil war seems to be going on in the Democrat Party.

With each passing day, I’m beginning to realize that the crux of the
problem for Obama is a handful of prominent progressive bloggers, among them
Glenn Greenwald, John Aravosis, Digby, Marcy Wheeler and Jane Hamsher.”

Daou, a progressive strategist and blogger himself, offered the
explanation in a post provocatively titled, “How a handful of liberal bloggers
are bringing down the Obama presidency,” that put a face on Obama’s critics and
suggested why their criticism might be so irritating.

An explanation of the criticism of the bloggers comes from Greenwald in Salon.

“As we head into a November election that looks more and more like Democrats
are going to get slaughtered, I think they are trying to set up a villain,
someone to blame other than Obama,”
he said. “And that villain will be the
left.” Another Leftist offers the Administration another road. If the Dem base
is unenthusiastic, give Dems something to get excited about, or effectively tell
them why they should be excited. If you disagree with Maddow or Greenwald on
what's possible in terms of policy, or if you disagree with the Adam Greens of
the world on politics, explain why they're wrong, rather than spewing epithets
in all directions. Above all, don't vaguely question the right of these various
parties to make those arguments. This is, after all, democracy, and as Obama
himself has repeatedly said, democracy is a messy business.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/plum-line/2010/09/dear_white_house_heres_how.html

Obama’s right and wrong at the same time

"If people now want to take their ball and go home, that tells me folks
weren't serious in the first place."

Obama is talking to voters as though he is their boss, or
their principal, or their father
.
He is not any of those things. He is
their employee. And employers don't like it when their employees yell at them --
even if their employees have it right.

For those who believe in the progressive agenda, these are
dispiriting times. They can learn from the continuing doldrums that the
Keynesian policies they have long sought don't work as they thought they would.
Or they can blame Obama for not having implemented them properly.

An interesting look at the chaos and problems the left has as the election looms.

WSJ/NBC Poll: President Clinton Gets Top Rating

Seeing this headline made me wonder how long it will be until Hillary resigns as Secretary of State to start a challenge to BHO? Obama is unpopular not only with Republicans and Independents, but more and more with parts of the Democrat coalition.

Austerity whips up anger, protests mount in Europe

This is what the Democrats want the USA to be like.

BRUSSELS (AFP) - – Painful cuts by overspending EU countries come head
to a head with mounting social anger on Wednesday when labour leaders call angry workers onto streets right across the continent.

Set for its largest Europe-wide protest for a decade is Brussels
where labour leaders are planning to bring 100,000 people from 30 countries to
say "No to austerity!"
