Crony Capitalism, Congress and Catholics

What’s new today

Our # 1 describes how after three years and how expectations were raised, we now find President Obama appears to be just another politician.  #2 we find out the Warren Buffet is just another rich guy looking to pay as little as possible to the government. #3 tells the story of how Congress is made up of people like the rest of us, but people who seem to write the laws so they can make money doing things that would put us in jail.  Article #4 bring George Soros into the just another category as the book Throw Them All Out tells how Soros has used his crony connections to make millions off the government.  #5 relates how the OWS movement isn’t looking to fix something, but to overthrow the system that has made us the most prosperous society in the history of mankind.  It seems the left keeps coming up with things that look good on paper but never work in real life.  #6 describes what OWS has accomplished so far.  #7 and #8 discuss situations with the left and Catholics in the USA.

1.   Just another Politician

BARACK OBAMA'S CRUSADE AGAINST POLITICAL APATHY, which helped drive voters to the polls in 2008, IS BACKFIRING FOUR YEARS LATER AS AMERICANS GROW INCREASINGLY FRUSTRATED WITH THE SPUTTERING ECONOMY AND GRIDLOCK IN WASHINGTON.

Several weeks after he announced his bid for the presidency in 2007, Obama ordered a mostly black crowd in Selma, Ala., to "get off the couch" because "we have too many children in poverty in this country and everybody should be ashamed."

"Take off your bedroom slippers," Obama shouted. "Put on your marching shoes. Go do some politics. Change this country!"

When he criticized Americans' materialism and said younger generations have come to believe they don't "have to make as many sacrifices" as the generations that preceded them, the crowds cheered him.

Back then, Americans -- numbed by years of war and anxious about a lingering recession -- FELT INSPIRED BY OBAMA'S CALL TO ACTION. Back then, Obama was still a community organizer, not a Washington insider even though he was already serving in the Senate.

He told them change can't just come from Washington, that Americans must step up and get involved in bettering their communities, and they listened.

FOUR YEARS LATER, "BARACK OBAMA NOW LOOKS LIKE EVERY OTHER POLITICIAN," …

A call to action by Obama now is ridiculous.  He’s been in office almost three years.  If we need action, he should already have been doing it!

2.   Irony: Warren Buffett Suing the IRS

WARREN BUFFETT, WHO HAS BEEN RUNNING AROUND COMPLAINING THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD "STOP CODDLING THE SUPER-RICH" AND SHOULD RAISE TAXES, IS REPORTEDLY SUING THE IRS TO AVOID $643 MILLION IN TAXES that the government says Berkshire Hathaway's NetJets subsidiary owes the government for failing to collect ticket taxes from NetJets customers (who include Mr. Buffett himself). The suit against the IRS is filed by NetJets Large Aircraft Inc., not by Mr. Buffett himself, but Mr. Buffett is CEO of NetJet parent Berkshire and its largest individual shareholder….

I think the Democrats need a new poster child for their attacks on the rich not paying their fair share.

3.   Do Congress People Have Unfair Advantages In The Stock Market?

BigGovernment.com has obtained records of Massachusetts Democrat SENATOR JOHN KERRY AND HIS WIFE TERESA HEINZ’S STOCK PORTFOLIOS THAT SHOW ALMOST PERFECTLY TIMED PHARMACEUTICAL STOCK TRADES DURING THE OBAMACARE DEBATE, which fattened their already enormous personal fortune.

The documents further support allegations of suspicious trading leveled during Sunday’s 60 Minutes report about the explosive new book by investigative reporter and Breitbart News editor Peter Schweizer, Throw Them All Out.

Sen. John Kerry’s position on the powerful Senate Finance Committee’s Health Subcommittee gives him direct access to critical information regarding health care policy. In July 2009, pharmaceutical industry representatives met with key members of Congress to flesh out the Obamacare bill. Then, IN NOVEMBER 2009, WITH THE BILL’S PASSAGE WAS LOOKING MORE LIKELY, THE KERRYS’ PORTFOLIOS REFLECT A DRUG STOCK BUYING SPREE….

http://biggovernment.com/whall/2011/11/18/exclusive-documents-the-kerrys-curious-stock-trades/

It’s rather ironic that here are two of the most passionate “tax” increasers doing things that are absolutely contrary to the public stance they take on “fairness.”  I guess hypocrisy is a human trait, not simply one for one political movement or the other.

4.  Throw Them All Out—Including Media Matters

Media Matters has offered up ridiculous post that tries to distort the fundamental facts about Barack Obama’s green energy program. I hesitated whether to even comment on it because they fail in the basic tenets of honest journalism. GEORGE SOROS IS A LARGE CONTRIBUTOR TO MEDIA MATTERS. In my book Throw Them All Out, I point out how SOROS HAS RECEIVED MILLIONS IN TAXPAYER MONEY VIA THE GREEN ENERGY PROGRAM. And I also devote an entire chapter to Soros’s crony capitalism as it relates to the stimulus. Does Media Matters disclose this blatant conflict of interest? Of course not. Media Matters is displaying blatant cronyism, pure and simple.

It appears Soros through Media Matters is trying to defend himself or at least divert attention from his taking government money.  The authors of Throw Them All Out has said perhaps he’ll put a chapter on Media Matters in the paperback edition of his book.

5.  What the Occupy Movement is really all about

…“WE’RE NO LONGER SETTLING FOR 'WE LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY BECAUSE WE VOTED FOR A POLITICIAN,'" left-wing rabble rouser and propaganda moviemaker Michael Moore has explained. “Those days are over,” he said. “Capitalism is an evil system.”

As Moore explained, Occupy is not about organizing for the next election – an election that looks increasingly likely to be another landslide in favor of limited government. OCCUPY IS ABOUT REPLACING OUR DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTIONS WITH NAKED FORCE, REPLACING THE RULE OF LAW WITH THE INTIMIDATION OF STREET THUGS, AND OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC WITH THE SAME TYPE OF AUTOCRATIC TYRANNY THAT (NOTWITHSTANDING NAÏVE GOOD INTENTIONS) ALWAYS ENDS UP ACCOMPANYING SOCIALISM.

In good Orwellian fashion, the occupiers chant: “this is what democracy looks like,” as if they hadn’t been resoundingly trounced in the last national elections.

In fact, they lost by historic margins in one of the biggest landslides in the country’s history, including 63 House seats, 6 Senate seats (7 if you count Scott Brown’s victory earlier in the year), and over 675 state legislative seats….

OWS is not democracy.  It is anarchy that is in favor a big government which means it wants the force of government to enact their demands.

6.  Occupy Wall Street’s Accomplishments

This week an eccentric Midtown Manhattan newspaper editorialized, seemingly with deadpan irony, that “THE OCCUPY WALL STREET PROTESTERS HAD ACHIEVED A GREAT DEAL” before the forces of Mayor Bloomberg literally cleaned the scum out of Zuccotti Park.

IN FACT, THE SUM TOTAL OF WHAT OCCUPY WALL STREET  HAS ACCOMPLISHED IS ZERO. The media that defend OWS claim that it is a success because it has . . . gotten lots of media coverage. But INSPIRING CHAT AROUND THE NATIONAL WATERCOOLER IS NOT AN ACHIEVEMENT. If media mentions equalled political importance, we’d all be waiting for President Kardashian’s big speech about Iran….

Actually what they’ve really accomplished so far is to turn the majority of Americans against them while those who continue to support them either make excuses for the violence, drug use, criminal activities, or simply ignore these things.

7.   Why Do Catholics Keep Funding the Radical Left?

Every November, including this one, American Catholics -- who constitute approximately 25% of the U.S. population -- are asked TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT (CCHD). The Catholic faithful have been told that their donations will go to fight poverty.

Little do most of them realize WHAT THEIR MONEY WILL ACTUALLY FUND. CCHD IS THE BRAINCHILD  OF SAUL ALINSKY, the "father of community organizing." Alinsky (1909-1972) had numerous connections in the Catholic community of his native Chicago, some of them nearly as radical as he was. He helped start CCHD in 1969.

Unfortunately, the benevolent-sounding term "community organizing" has a very specific meaning amongst people working in the Alinsky tradition -- and it's not what you would think. IN FACT, A MORE FITTING TERM WOULD BE " COMMUNITY DISORGANIZING." ALINSKYITES ARE TRAINED TO GO INTO POOR COMMUNITIES AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY BEAT PEOPLE UP UNTIL THOSE PEOPLE HAVE LOST ALL HOPE FOR ANY SOLUTIONS OTHER THAN RADICAL CHANGE. Once the people are thoroughly demoralized, and have become passive putty in the activist's hands, that same "organizer" will rile them up, exhorting them to blame all their problems on "the establishment."….

The author goes on admitting they were a former left wing radical to identify code words used by the left to confuse the true meaning of what they are doing or intend on doing.  Hence empowerment and justice means one thing to the left and something entirely different to Catholics.

8.   A Liberal Irish Catholic Journey from the Left to Sanity

…For me, the road to disaffection started with a novelist and ended with several liberal politicians. The light of skepticism was lit by George Orwell, fanned by the Kennedy brothers, and flared into full-blown apostasy with Daniel Patrick  Moynihan.

By the time I got to high school, Orwell was already something of a cult figure. He appeared in the ubiquitous Survey of English Literature class, the textbook for which sold by the pound. ORWELL WAS A POPULAR ASSIGNMENT BECAUSE MOST OF WHAT HE WROTE WAS MERCIFULLY SHORT. Our instructor was a Jesuit who tended to emphasize allegory at the expense of Orwell's political message. THE HARSH CRITIQUE OF THE SOVIETS IN ANIMAL FARM AND 1984 MAY HAVE HIT A LITTLE TOO CLOSE TO HOME FOR URBAN AMERICAN CATHOLICS WHO SHARED SOME COMMUNAL INSTINCTS, IF NOT METHODS, WITH COMMUNISTS.

ORWELL HAD SERVED WITH COMMUNISTS IN THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR AGAINST FRANCO FASCISTS. He was a curb level expert on the contradictions between leftist ideology and policy. Communism did not prevail in Spain, but it did prevail in Europe after WWII. In 1945 Orwell took on our Soviet "ally" while the Western press was still calling Joseph Stalin "Uncle Joe."

The skepticism of literary figures like Orwell, and solitary politicians like Winston Churchill, would prove prophetic. Eventually, the Soviet experiment collapsed, but THE INFLUENCE OF MARXISM SURVIVED TO INFEST THE COLD WAR SOCIAL DEMOCRACIES INCLUDING THE AMERICAS. Orwell's message, for me, was not ideological; it was utilitarian -- how easily people might be misled, in a democracy, by promises that could never be kept. Orwell planted the seeds of doubt about utopian politics.

An interesting look at someone who was programed to be a Democrat and how he finally broke with the left.

Is Paul Ryan running for VP?

What’s new today

Our # 1 tells of Paul Ryan’s praise of Mitt Romney’s spending reform plan.  #2 brings into question Obama’s contention that we need more spending to create more jobs.  It seems the first stimulus created fewer jobs than we are seeing now. #3 relates who OWS seems to be sinking into more violence.  #4 gives an interesting look at what may be affecting why we are seeing fewer science and math students.  #5 lays out how the students in Australia get loans for college.  It may be something we want to look into.

1.   Ryan Praises Romney’s Spending Reform Plan

HOUSE BUDGET COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN REP. PAUL RYAN HAS NOTHING BUT PRAISE FOR FORMER MASSACHUSETTS GOVERNOR AND REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE MITT ROMNEY’S RECENT RELEASED ENTITLEMENT AND SPENDING REFORM PLAN, The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin reports.

“This is a great development,” Ryan told Rubin when asked about the plan on Friday. “It shows that the elusive adult conversation is taking place, but all on one side.”

Romney’s proposal calls for federal spending to be capped at 20 percent of GDP by the end of his first term in the White House, the repeal of Obamacare and cutting “approximately $500 billion per year in 2016 assuming robust economic recovery with 4% annual growth, and reversal of irresponsible Obama- era defense cuts.” It also includes a host of other specific cuts, the privatization of Amtrak, reductions in foreign aid spending and sweeping reforms of Social Security and Medicare….

Even more interesting than Romney’s proposal is looking at is Ryan maneuvering for the VP slot.  It certainly would help Romney’s standing with conservatives and would be a nightmare for the Democrats.

2.   Non-Stimulus Job Growth Outperforms Stimulus Job Growth

The employment report for October wasn't much to write home about. But it did show THE ECONOMY HAS ADDED 1.5 MILLION TO PRIVATE PAYROLLS THIS YEAR, ALL WITHOUT ANY BIG-SPENDING FEDERAL "JOBS" PROGRAM. GO FIGURE.

In France during the G-20 meeting Friday, Obama blasted Republicans for their failure to pass another round of stimulus spending — this time dubbed a "jobs bill."

"The American people," he said in a statement, "deserve an explanation as to why Republicans refuse to step up to the plate and do what's necessary to create jobs and grow the economy right now."

Just one problem: SINCE REPUBLICANS TOOK CONTROL OF THE HOUSE IN JANUARY AND SECURED ENOUGH VOTES IN THE SENATE TO BLOCK BIG SPENDING BILLS, THE ECONOMY HAS CREATED 1.5 MILLION PRIVATE-SECTOR JOBS, according to the Friday report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

THAT'S WELL ABOVE THE 1.2 MILLION CREATED IN ALL OF 2010, when Democrats ran everything in Washington, and when stimulus money was still pouring into the economy. In fact, if you compare private job growth with stimulus spending, they practically move in opposite directions….

This is not the kind of analysts Obama wants put forward.  You probably won’t see it in your local newspaper.

3.   Occupy is Starting to Look Like a bunch of Goons

What is the real point of "Occupy Wall Street"? The violence in Oakland offers the first clue. NOW WITH POLITICALLY CONNECTED UNION BOSSES AND ACORN INVOLVED, IT MIGHT JUST BE WORTH LOOKING AT ITS LINKS TO DEMOCRATS.

Now that Oakland's streets have been "redecorated" with shattered glass, cement chunks and burning garbage from the Occupy Wall Street movement, it's critical to see that these acts are no aberration, but came after calls for force and violence. WHAT MAKES IT DISTURBING IS HOW CLOSE THE WHITE HOUSE IS TO THEM AS ELECTION TIME APPROACHES.

UNITED STEELWORKERS PRESIDENT LEO GERARD, speaking on radio host Ed Schultz's show last Monday, declared, "What we need is more militancy." Asked to clarify, Gerard said: "I think we've got to start a resistance movement. If Wall Street Occupation doesn't get the message, I THINK WE'VE GOT TO START BLOCKING BRIDGES AND DOING THAT KIND OF STUFF."

The Canadian union leader then denounced Americans' 2008 election of Tea Party representatives to the House as "nut jobs," and CALLED FOR MORE FORCE AND ILLEGALITY: "We ought to be doing more than occupying parks. We ought to start occupying bridges. We ought to start occupying the banks' places themselves."

It’s starting to fall apart for the left.  As OWS turns more violent, their popularity will plummet

4.   How Grade Inflation Hurts Math and Science Education

The New York Times has an interesting story on THE DECLINING NUMBER OF MATH AND SCIENCE MAJORS IN UNIVERSITIES. The article identifies many potential culprits, including grade inflation in the humanities and social sciences.

IT IS NO SURPRISE THAT GRADES ARE LOWER IN MATH AND SCIENCE, WHERE THE ANSWERS ARE CLEAR-CUT AND THERE ARE NO BONUS POINTS FOR FLAIR. Professors also say they are strict because science and engineering courses build on one another, and a student who fails to absorb the key lessons in one class will flounder in the next.

After studying nearly a decade of transcripts at one college, Kevin Rask, a professor at Wake Forest University, concluded last year that the grades in the introductory math and science classes were among the lowest on campus. THE CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT GAVE THE LOWEST GRADES OVER ALL, AVERAGING 2.78 OUT OF 4, FOLLOWED BY MATHEMATICS AT 2.90. EDUCATION, LANGUAGE AND ENGLISH COURSES HAD THE HIGHEST AVERAGES, RANGING FROM 3.33 TO 3.36.

Ben Ost, a doctoral student at Cornell, found in a similar study that STEM students are both “pulled away” by high grades in their courses in other fields and “pushed out” by lower grades in their majors.

IF TAKING MATH, SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING COURSES REQUIRES STUDENTS TO SACRIFICE THEIR GPAS AND CLASS STANDING, IT SHOULD BE NO SURPRISE THAT MANY CHOOSE OTHER COURSES OF STUDY.

An interesting way to look at it which makes a lot of sense.  Perhaps Science and Math classes should get a boost when figuring GPA.

5.  Australian Higher Education

…..[W]e might look to the Australian system of student aid for guidance on how to develop a better plan. IN AUSTRALIA, STUDENTS EACH KNOW IN ADVANCE HOW MUCH MONEY IS IN THEIR STUDENT-LOAN “ACCOUNT” SO TO SPEAK. They know that when the money runs out, government support is over (unless the student is moving on to professional school, for example, in which case supplemental funds are made available). This means that THE STUDENT HAS THE INCENTIVE TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS, STICK WITH THE PROGRAM, AND COMPLETE THEIR STUDIES IN A TIMELY MANNER. In other words, there is no such thing as a stipend runner who simply stays in the system for as long as possible to keep collecting student-aid rebates and avoid entering the repayment period.

Australian student loans do not have interest associated with them in the traditional sense and unlike in the U.S. system, IT IS CURRENT ECONOMIC CONDITIONS, AS OPPOSED TO A PERSON’S BIRTH YEAR, THAT DETERMINE THE TOTAL COST HE OR SHE WILL BEAR IN REPAYING STUDENT LOANS. For example, American students who enter college next year will pay over 6-percent interest on subsidized Stafford loans as opposed to students this year, who will pay only 3 percent. Meanwhile, the economic conditions next year are likely to be similar to current economic conditions.

In Australia, student loans are assessed an up-front fee that has remained relatively constant over the years (just now increasing from 20 to 25 percent). The fee does not increase beyond that, even if the borrower needs to interrupt repayment to pursue an advanced degree, to recover from an economic hardship, or to take time off of work for medical or family leave. There is no interest to accumulate, but instead the current value of the Australian student loan is determined based on the national Consumer Price Index. Loan costs rise and fall based on the annual economic performance of the country, as opposed to the individual student’s personal or professional circumstances.

In Australia, there is no such thing as a grace period, deferment, or forbearance. Instead, THERE IS A MINIMUM THRESHOLD INCOME AT WHICH STUDENT-LOAN REPAYMENT IS EXPECTED TO COMMENCE. CURRENTLY, THAT THRESHOLD INCOME IS AROUND $45,000 PER YEAR AND AS SOON AS THE BORROWER MEETS THAT THRESHOLD, WHETHER IT IS WHILE THE STUDENT IS STILL IN SCHOOL OR EVEN YEARS AFTER GRADUATION, REPAYMENTS BEGIN. The monthly payment amount is not based on the size or term of the loan, but instead on the borrower’s level of income, with students at the threshold level paying 4-percent of their earnings in loan payments and those earning higher wages paying no more than 8 percent of their earnings. Unlike in our Income Based Repayment program, interest does not capitalize and the total amount due does not increase just because a longer repayment term is in order (unless the economy is so strong that CPI increases dramatically over that period of time, in which case one would assume that wages would maintain a similar rate of growth)….

I’m sure there are problems with this system, but it seems interesting and perhaps something we should be looking at here in the USA.

Everything you were afraid to ask about OWS

What’s new today

Our articles for today start with Occupy Wall Street and asking what happens next.  Story 2 relates how violence breaks out right after Bloomberg backs down on making the OWS crowd  leave the park.  Article 3 tells how Donny Deutsch calls for a “Kent State” moment for OWS.   Story 4 is a video showing you how comments like Deutsch are dangerous when you realize how close to the edge these protesters are.

We then move on to #5 and see Jesse Jackson calling for Obama to suspend the Constitution.  I guess Jesse never learned that Obama doesn’t have that power.  #6 is about Herman Cain and why the left fears him.  And we finish today with article #7 and why jobs seems to be in short supply.

1.   Occupy Wall Street:  What happens next?

NEW YORK (AP) -- The cleanup of a plaza in lower Manhattan where protesters have been camped out for a month was postponed early Friday, sending cheers up from a crowd that had feared the effort was merely a pretext to evict them.

Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway said the owners of the private park, BROOKFIELD OFFICE PROPERTIES, HAD PUT OFF THE CLEANING. Supporters of the protesters had started streaming into the park in the morning darkness before the planned cleaning, forming a crowd of several hundred chanting people.

"I'll believe it when we're able to stay here," said protester Peter Hogness, 56, a union employee from Brooklyn. "ONE THING WE HAVE LEARNED FROM THIS IS THAT WE NEED TO RELY ON OURSELVES AND NOT ON PROMISES FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS."

But protester Nick Gulotta, 23, was jubilant.

He originally held up a sign referring to Mayor Michael Bloomberg that said: "Bloomberg Don't Evict Occupy Wall Street." People cheered and clapped him on the back when he scratched out the "don't" and replaced it with "didn't."…

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_WALL_STREET_PROTEST?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=

I think the mayor has decided to let the weather end this protest.  Since Al Gore has metaphorically joined the protest, can cold weather be far behind?

2.  Violence breaks out in New York

Just a short while after protesters learned they’d be able to stay in Zuccotti Park indefinitely, VIOLENCE BROKE OUT AS A GROUP MARCHED AWAY FROM IT.

Protesters, apparently jubilant over being able to stay in the park after their furious cleanup efforts, took their brooms, flags and signs and started fanning out at around 7:30 a.m.

1010 WINS’ Steve Sandberg reported the protesters were saying things to the effect that now that they’d cleaned up the park, they were going to clean up Wall Street….

The TEA Party and the OWS movement are not the same.  Zero violence at the TEA Party gatherings (at least initiated by the TEA Party members) and constant scuffles and violence at the OWS protests.

3.   Donny Deutsch calls for violence on Morning Joe

On Friday’s Morning Joe, Donny Deutsch made a stirring observation about Occupy Wall Street, suggesting the movement needed a Kent State-like climactic moment. The provocative comment earned a deservedly derisive reaction from his hosts Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski who chided and smacked Deutsch respectively.

The famous ad man and regular Morning Joe guest seemed to know that he was wading into dangerous territory when he said:

“YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MOVEMENT NEEDS? One is obvious one not so obvious. Everybody is saying they need to clarify. They need policy issues…The other thing it needs and I don’t want this to come out the wrong way. Not needs but will happen. If you think back to the late ’60s, what is the most stirring image of all of the rebellion that happened? WHAT DO WE REMEMBER? KENT STATE. NOW I’M NOT SAYING SOMEBODY HAS TO GET KILLED. WHAT WILL HAPPEN, WILL THERE BE A CLIMAX MOMENT OF CLASS WARFARE SOMEHOW PLAYED OUT ON SCREEN THAT I THINK WILL, the same way 999 if you will kind of simplifies a message that articulates this clash so both the real clarification. We’re a visual society.”…

Pathetic.  The left wants violence to simplify and articulate their class warfare message. I don’t think the left wants to use the tools we have as a democratic constitutional republic, because they lose when people vote.

4.   Here’s the People Deutsch is speaking to

Schizophrenia appears to be a left wing virtue and it is people like this who may end up being terrorists.

5.   Jesse Jackson Jr. Calls for Obama to Suspend the Constitution

Political firebrands hit Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. from both his left and his right Thursday afternoon, reacting to the Illinois congressman’s call for the president to bypass the Constitution to deal with the jobs crisis. During a Wednesday interview with The Daily Caller, Jackson said President Obama should “declare a national emergency” and use “extra-constitutional” measures to create jobs.

Debbie Halvorson, his likely 2012 primary Democratic challenger, said their shared district’s residents do not want “a do-nothing politician who is looking to get a quick headline.”

“In Rep. Jackson’s entire congressional career, he has never introduced a single jobs bill,” Halvorson said. “Now, he’s calling on the president to suspend the Constitution? As a representative of the people, you don’t give up when you hit a roadblock and throw the Constitution out the window — you keep working to get something done.”

Illinois Republican Rep. Joe Walsh issued a similarly harsh rebuke….

Have you ever noticed that you never see or hear about a conservative calling on the President to assume dictatorial powers, even in time of war?  That pretty much is left to the left.

6.  Herman Cain and why the left fears him

Though he's been a GOP candidate for President for months, it wasn't until he won the Florida straw poll last month and performed adeptly at the Fox News/Google debate in Orlando that HERMAN CAIN CAUGHT THE EYE OF MILLIONS AND STARTED SURGING IN MOST POLLS. And just this week, an NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll showed him leading the GOP pack.

One can see why. HE ESPOUSES A REAGAN-ESQUE LIKEABILITY, HE ISN'T STIFF OR STAID AND HIS STORY OF PERSONAL SUCCESS THROUGH HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION IS ENORMOUSLY INSPIRING. Growing up in the segregated South, he worked tirelessly to become the CEO of Godfather’s  Pizza. He knows what it's like to be forced to use a different water fountain than whites. But he also knows that being angry about his past would only hinder his future. THE MORE YOU LEARN ABOUT CAIN, THE MORE YOU CAN'T HELP BUT ADMIRE HIM.

That is, unless you're on the left. Yes, the man who compares himself to black walnut ice cream is giving liberals a brain freeze.

For example, singer and activist Harry Belafonte called Cain a "bad apple" and insinuated he was stupid….

http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2011/10/14/2011-1014_why_the_left_fears_herman_cain_surging_candidate_threatens_allegiance_between_bl.html#ixzz1alJpb7jf

Once again we see the bankruptcy of the left with the name calling.  Unable to mount and intellectual argument, they rely on the Alinsky Rules. And Cain’s popularity seems to demolish the favorite charge of the left that the right is racist.

7.   Obama’s Jobs Programs:   Getting rid of them that is

In August the Department of Justice raided Gibson Guitar facilities in Memphis and Nashville, alleging a violation of the so-called Lacey Act, a law which bans the importation of certain kinds of wildlife, plants and wood.

And although two months have passed, Gibson Guitars CEO Henry Juszkiewicz has taken an unusually aggressive posture against the DOJ. On Wednesday, HE TOLD THE DAILY CALLER THERE COULD BE CASUALTIES FROM THE DOJ’S ACTIONS, FIRST OF WHICH HE SAID MAY BE HIGHER GUITAR PRICES.

“It’s a zero-sum game,” he said. “You don’t create money out of thin air. So a dollar goes to lawyers in Washington, D.C. is a dollar that comes out of our consumers’ pockets, period.”

But he also cautioned that AMERICAN JOBS COULD BE LOST AND SENT OVERSEAS.

“You know, there’s A VERY REAL POSSIBILITY WE WILL HAVE TO MOVE AT LEAST SOME PROCESSING [JOBS] OVERSEAS,” Juszkiewicz said. “I’m trying to avoid that. But you know, I have to do what the business requires, and that’s a very realistic possibility.”

http://dailycaller.com/2011/10/13/gibson-guitar-ceo-warns-that-jobs-may-be-sent-overseas-in-aftermath-of-doj-raid/#ixzz1aiYg4NTC

It’s no wonder the economy is so sluggish.  Obama is not only ignoring the low hanging fruit that would give us jobs (energy), but he’s actually cutting the low hanging branches so they will never bear fruit again.
