OWS losing ground

What’s new today

Our # 1 story is about the demonstrations which are really aimed at interrupting and bring pain to everyone.  Not a very good strategy if you want people to support your cause. Story #2 tells us that the strategy is causing the OWS to lose support.  #3 Maxine “the TEA Party can go to Hell” Waters seems unconcerned with the violence with OWS.  #4 relates how the left became the sole defender of civil rights.  They did that by defining what civil rights were.  #5 talks about how Obamacare is looking shakier and shakier.  This is causing some of the main players to second guess themselves and what they should have done that they didn’t.  Story #6 tells of a classroom experiment that showed how socialism fails.  And finally, #7is another example of crony capitalism with Washington and the Kennedy’s.

1.  Wall Street Braces for Trouble

The occupation at Zuccotti Park may be over, but wary city officials are bracing for trouble tomorrow when A MOB OF THAT COULD NUMBER IN THE “TENS OF THOUSANDS” IS EXPECTED TO ANSWER OCCUPY WALL STREET’S CALL TO SHUT DOWN THE FINANCIAL DISTRICT.

“Everything that we have seen and heard suggests that we may have tens of thousands of people tomorrow protesting.

The protesters are calling for a massive event aimed at disrupting major parts of the city,” Deputy Mayor Howard Wolfson told reporters this afternoon..…

The OWS protestor who threaten a Molotov cocktail has been arrested.  Let’s see how this goes.

2.  OWS falls in the Polls

The Occupy Wall Street movement is not wearing well with voters across the country. ONLY 33% NOW SAY THAT THEY ARE SUPPORTIVE OF ITS GOALS, COMPARED TO 45% WHO SAY THEY OPPOSE THEM. That represents an 11 point shift in the wrong direction for the movement's support compared to a month ago when 35% of voters said they supported it and 36% were opposed. Most notably independents have gone from supporting Occupy Wall Street's goals 39/34, to opposing them 34/42.

VOTERS DON'T CARE FOR THE TEA PARTY EITHER, WITH 42% SAYING THEY SUPPORT ITS GOALS TO 45% OPPOSED. But asked whether they have a higher opinion of the Tea Party or Occupy Wall Street movement the Tea Party wins out 43-37, representing a flip from last month when Occupy Wall Street won out 40-37 on that question. Again the movement with independents is notable- from preferring Occupy Wall Street 43-34, to siding with the Tea Party 44-40.

PPP is a liberal polling group.  This turnaround is certainly not what the Democrats were counting on when they sided with the Occupy group.

3.  Maxine Waters Shrugs Off Occupy Violence: ‘That’s Life. It Happens.’

And it’s just a “distraction” anyway.

When asked to comment Wednesday about the deaths and crimes that have occurred around Occupy protests being held across the country, REP. MAXINE WATERS SAID “THAT’S LIFE AND IT HAPPENS.”

“That’s a distraction from the goals of the protesters,” Waters, who says she supports the Occupy movement, told CNSNews.com after an event at the Capitol sponsored by the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

The next obvious question to ask: So, what are those goals that soar above the petty need to avoid rape and buckets of human waste on our city streets? What Occupy goal justifies the descent into anarchy that they’re leading? Not that Waters will answer. THEIR HEARTS ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE, OR SOMETHING.

At any rate, Waters had a much less sanguine opinion of the Tea Party. Despite the total lack of violent crimes, terroristic threats, and spread of diseases that the West thought we had defeated decades ago only to have them return to occupy our city parks, BACK IN AUGUST WATERS TOLD THE TEA PARTY TO “GO STRAIGHT TO HELL.”

If we had a fair mainstream press, they might put these two quote together and ask Waters about them.

If we had a fair mainstream press, BHO wouldn’t be president (Hillary probably would).  Life isn’t fair, but there are other media catching Waters and others.

4.  Civil Rights on the Left

…Since the rise of the conservative movement, IT HAS BEEN BELIEVED ON THE LEFT THAT THE MOVEMENT’S SECRET RAISON D’ÊTRE IS FEAR OF “THE OTHER”—IMMIGRANTS, BLACKS, BROWNS, AND THE LOSS OF AMERICAN “WHITENESS”—for which other concerns were assumed to be cover, a conceit that allowed the left to think itself not only “right on the issues” (all people think they are right on the issues) but “right” on the grand scale of higher morality, as one with the forces of the good and the pure and the true. Whatever the flaws of Herman Cain as a man or as a candidate, he has had the effect of eroding this conceit. And in this context, THE MERITS OF CAIN IN HIMSELF ARE LESS IMPORTANT THAN WHO SUPPORTS HIM AND THE LIBERALS’ REACTION TO WHAT HE HAS DONE….

BY DEFINING RACIAL PREFERENCES AS “CIVIL RIGHTS MEASURES,” THE LEFT TRIED TO PRESENT A UNIFIED THEORY OF CONSERVATIVE RACISM STRETCHING FROM GOLDWATER’S VOTE AGAINST THE 1964 CIVIL RIGHTS ACT INTO AN UNENDING FUTURE. But this never convinced the American people, who consistently opposed all unequal treatment and voted against it when given the chance. On the side of the right were also the facts that Frederick Douglass had opposed quotas, members of the NAACP had at one time been doubtful about them, John Kennedy had voiced doubts about them, and Hubert Humphrey had responded to doubts raised by JFK’s friend George Smathers by saying, “If the Senator can find .  .  . any language which provides that an employer will have to hire on the basis of percentage or quota .  .  . I will start eating the pages [of the Civil Rights Act] .  .  . because it is not there.”…

An interesting look at civil rights, race relations and the Democratic and Republican Parties.  It appears there are two different views on what constitutes racism.  Ann Coulter in her latest book says The Democratic Party has consistently favored racial discrimination, it just switched which race should be discriminated against.

5.  Obamacare, We Hardly Knew Ye

OBAMACARE ISN’T DEAD, BUT THE NYT IS ALREADY WRITING ITS OBITUARY. Two years ago, governors who filed lawsuits challenging the healthcare bill’s constitutionality were dismissed as Red State extremists and ideologues with names like “Butch” Otter.  Hadn’t they read the Commerce Clause, the bien pensant press would ask. What kind of Flat Earthers were these people, anyway?

TODAY, NOT EVEN THE WHITE HOUSE SEEMS SURE THAT ITS HEALTHCARE REFORM BILL IS CONSTITUTIONAL.

Until the Court rules — something of a throw of the dice — nobody really knows what will happen to the health care law. (At the time of the ratification debates over the Constitution, this feature that important laws would be passed and would operate for some time before people knew whether they were in fact legal was considered one of the Constitution’s weak spots.)

As they sweat out the months before the Court issues its decision, THE HEALTHCARE EXPERTS WHO DRAFTED THE BILL DON’T KNOW IF IT’S DEAD, BUT REVEALINGLY ENOUGH THEY ARE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY.

President Obama campaigned against the individual mandate at the heart of the controversy over constitutionality, and the decision to embrace it was not a natural one for him. THE SECOND GUESSING IS WELL UNDER WAY:…

Obama should have broken it down into bite size pieces.  Start off with a pool for preexisting conditions.  But he wanted to swing for the fence and it appears he has struck out.

6.  Socialism:  A Classroom Experiment

AN ECONOMICS PROFESSOR AT A LOCAL COLLEGE MADE A STATEMENT THAT HE HAD NEVER FAILED A SINGLE STUDENT BEFORE, BUT HAD RECENTLY FAILED AN ENTIRE CLASS. That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “OK, WE WILL HAVE AN EXPERIMENT IN THIS CLASS ON OBAMA’S PLAN”. ALL GRADES WILL BE AVERAGED AND EVERYONE WILL RECEIVE THE SAME GRADE so no one will fail and no one will receive an A…. (substituting grades for dollars – something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

AFTER THE FIRST TEST, THE GRADES WERE AVERAGED AND EVERYONE GOT A B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

THE SECOND TEST AVERAGE WAS A D! No one was happy.

WHEN THE 3RD TEST ROLLED AROUND, THE AVERAGE WAS AN F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them THAT SOCIALISM WOULD ALSO ULTIMATELY FAIL because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

It could not be any simpler than that….

It’s pretty simple actually.  Be careful what you reward because you will get more of it.

7.  RFK Jr.’s Green Company bailed out to the tune of $1.4 Trillion.

President John F. Kennedy’s nephew, Robert Kennedy, Jr., NETTED A $1.4 BILLION BAILOUT FOR HIS COMPANY, BRIGHTSOURCE, through a loan guarantee issued by a former employee-turned Department of Energy official.

It’s just one more in a string of eye-opening revelations by investigative journalist and Breitbart editor Peter Schweizer in his explosive new book, Throw Them All Out.

THE DETAILS OF HOW BRIGHTSOURCE MANAGED TO LAND ITS TEN-FIGURE TAXPAYER BAILOUT HAVE YET TO EMERGE FULLY. HOWEVER, ONE CLUE MIGHT BE FOUND IN THE PERSON OF SANJAY WAGLE.

Wagle was one of the principals in Kennedy’s firm who RAISED MONEY FOR BARACK OBAMA’S 2008 presidential campaign. When Obama won the White House, Wagle was installed at the Department of Energy (DOE), advising on energy grants.

Money seems to talk and is repaid a thousand fold in Washington.
