Intellectual differences between the right and the left

Stupidity of the Right?

….THE RIGHT ISN’T ANTI-INTELLECTUAL, but it is critical of the power of intellectual cabals to reshape American life without the consent of voters. Rightly so. INTELLECTUALS OFTEN PRESUME THAT THEIR CLEVERNESS QUALIFIES THEM TO RUN THINGS. George Bernard Shaw noted that what attracted so many academics to Marxism was its ability to turn their ideas into government policy: it flattered them. But what works on paper doesn’t necessarily work in real life, and THE RESHAPING OF HUMANITY TO SUIT AN ABSTRACT PHILOSOPHY EITHER REQUIRES IGNORING THE FACTS OR A BRUTAL RE-ENGINEERING OF THEM. America’s government was never more dominated by intellectuals than in the 1960s – when Ivy League bureaucrats poured millions of dollars into disastrous anti-poverty programs and dropped thousands of bombs on Vietnam. Today, an “intellectual” President has presided over perhaps the most idiotic economic programme in recent history – motivated by an abstract Keynesian conviction that “the more you spend, the faster you’ll grow”.

At the heart of the Tea Party is an experiment in democracy and self-rule. ITS MEMBERS REFUSE TO BE TOLD WHAT TO DO OR WHAT TO BELIEVE. IN THIS SENSE, THEY ARE THE ANTITHESIS OF THE INTELLECTUAL ELITISM THAT PERMEATES IVY LEAGUE ACADEMIA. Some might call them wilfully stupid. History will say they were wise beyond their years.

In fact, the left is classically anti-intellectual describing disagreement as stupidity while the right refuses to give them the keys to the treasury.  The left’s ARGUMENTUM AD VERECUNDIAM does not represent a true intellectual position.

The Post Modern Left

  1. REJECTION OF UNIVERSAL, OBJECTIVE TRUTH AND MEANING.
  2. REJECTION OF UNIVERSAL MORAL ABSOLUTES.
  3. REJECTION OF RATIONALITY.
  4. Rejection of language as a way to convey objective information from author to reader. Postmodernism informs us that the reader is now in charge of deciding what the text says.
  5. Rejection of individualism. An individual's concept of truth and rules of morality are determined solely by the group to which he "belongs," from which there is no exit.
  6. "Truth" and "morality" are "social constructs" that vary from one group to another.
  7. One group's "truth" and "morality" are as worthy and valid as another's.
  8. Historical prevailing truth and morality are merely the opinions of the group in power and are designed to serve their goal of oppressing the powerless, the victims.
  9. Because "truth" and "morality" are relative and "reason" is a futile delusion, victim groups must resort to raw power and, if necessary, deceitfulness to throw off the oppressive shackles imposed by the powerful. Lies, propaganda and bullying, sometimes even physical violence, are necessary armaments in the arsenal of the oppressed.

Now, which of the two major American political parties is this beginning to sound like? Surely you need only one guess, not three.

Yes, TODAY'S DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS PROFOUNDLY INFECTED BY POSTMODERNISM -- at its root, an outrageous fraud cleverly covered up by a fog of arcane gibberish and deceitful, euphemistic code words that PERMIT ITS ADHERENTS TO IMAGINE THAT THEY ARE MEMBERS OF A SUPERIOR, ELITE GNOSTIC COTERIE WHEN IN FACT THEY ARE INTELLECTUAL EUNUCHS and just plain lazy. It's so easy to be a postmodernist, since we no longer have to suffer the onerous mental toil and exertion required to be right. That's one of the chief reasons for its appeal to ignorant people.

A SECOND LURE OF POSTMODERNISM IS SIMPLE LUST FOR TYRANNICAL POWER OVER OTHERS. One doesn't have to be a member of the activist Democrat power elite to enjoy such wretched malefaction; one can drink deeply of it vicariously, and countless ignorant supporters do just that when they gather in their mindless mobs like they did recently in Madison WI.  Moreover, postmodernists have a near-pathological obsession with "bullying," as is made obvious in the offshoot movement known as “diversity training.” Could it be that they know down deep that their unprincipled non-morality is a wide open door to power-mongering and abusive behavior? That they themselves are the biggest bullies in town? What about the SEIU thug who bit off the guy's finger? The fusillade of e-mailed death threats delivered to Republican legislators in Wisconsin? The constant braying of leftist postmodernists about "bullying" has a distinct odor of projective slander….

Far from being intellectual, the left is the political group of feelings. If they were more rational we could probably solve many of the problems we are facing today.

September 17th Day Of Rage

Here’s a photo essay of a socialist attempt at emulating the TEA Party protests, with a protest against capitalism.

Excuse Number 27 of why the Economy is so Bad

…It is a charge that Obama's supporters have been kicking around for months. IF ONLY BUSINESSES WOULD PUT ALL THEIR RESERVE CAPITAL TO WORK, MILLIONS OF NEW JOBS WOULD BE CREATED. Of course, part of the reason they do not is prudence in the face of a deteriorating economy. Another is that excessive regulation has foreclosed business opportunities. DRILLING HAS BEEN ALL BUT BANNED IN THE GULF OF MEXICO, IN ALASKA, AND ON FEDERAL LANDS ELSEWHERE. Construction of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in South Carolina has been threatened by Obama's National Labor Relations Board. Businesses face uncertainty over increased taxes associated with ObamaCare and possible expiration of the Bush tax cuts.

Meanwhile, DODD-FRANK HAS FORCED FINANCIAL FIRMS TO MAINTAIN HIGHER CAPITAL RATIOS EVEN AS IT HAS REDUCED THEIR PROFITABILITY BY SHARPLY LIMITING FEES AND CHARGES. But if only they would forget about taxes and regulation and shovel some of that money out to union workers, the economic numbers would look a lot better. It's almost as if businesses were withholding that money until they have some assurance of making a profit. How unpatriotic can you get?

When it comes to rosy predictions, OBAMA'S PROMISE OF 5 MILLION GREEN JOBS was about as far-fetched as Al Gore's claim to have invented the internet. ACCORDING TO ENERGY DEPARTMENT FIGURES, THE ADMINISTRATION HAS SPENT $17.2 BILLION IN LOAN GUARANTEES TO CREATE 3,545 JOBS, a cost of nearly $5 million per job. And as the bankruptcy of Solyndra, Evergreen Solar, and other green energy firms demonstrates, many of those jobs are likely to be short-lived.

Still, DOE sees the glass as a lot more than half-full. After news of the Solyndra bankruptcy broke, an Energy Department spokesman insisted that the loan guarantee program was "helping America win the clean energy race." Attempting to excuse its apparent loss of $500 million in loan guarantees to Solyndra, DOE'S DEPUTY SECRETARY PONEMAN CLAIMED THAT SOLYNDRA WAS THE VICTIM OF A "PERFECT STORM."…

A perfect storm?  I guess that is when it costs you twice as much to produce your product as you sell it for ($6 per watt to build it--$3 per watt sell it).  As for his rosy picture 3545 jobs created and only 4,996,455 to go.

Cleaver: If Obama wasn't president, we would be ‘marching on the White House.’  Isn’t that racist?

Unhappy members of THE CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS “PROBABLY WOULD BE MARCHING ON THE WHITE HOUSE” IF OBAMA WERE NOT PRESIDENT, according to CBC Chairman Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.).

"If [former President] Bill Clinton had been in the White House and had failed to address this problem, we probably would be marching on the White House," Cleaver told “The Miami Herald” in comments published Sunday. "There is a less-volatile reaction in the CBC because nobody wants to do anything that would empower the people who hate the president."..

So let me see if I have this correct. They would march on the WH if the president were white, but won’t when he’s black?  That sound a lot like racism to me.

Democrats face 2012 worried about Obama's low ratings

ONE NEVADA DEMOCRATIC PARTY INSIDER OFFERED THIS TIP FOR CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE IN 2012: “DON’T GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA,” he said…

Republican Mark Amodei’s runaway 22-point victory over Democrat Kate Marshall in last Tuesday’s special U.S. House election rattled the advisers of Democratic contenders, who worry about persistent economic doldrums and a potential Obama drag at the ballot box.

The most effective TV ad Amodei used against Marshall was called “echo.” The 30-second spot juxtaposed video clips showing her delivering the same Democratic talking points as Obama and U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, another GOP target, including the famous “yes we can” presidential campaign theme.

“DEMOCRAT KATE MARSHALL. WE CAN’T AFFORD HER IN CONGRESS,” said another TV ad paid for by national Republicans. The words appeared below a picture of Obama and Marshall together, both smiling.

Some things are certain.  The sun will rise in the East, the Ice at the North pole will get thicker in the winter, and President Barack Obama will not be president after January 20th, 2013.
