It was insensitive and stupid and the Obama campaign has ditched selling it.  But you won’t hear about this gaffe by his campaign, because the media is too busy creating gaffes for Romney to be blamed for.

11 things you need to know about Romney’s tax returns

Today GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney released his 2011 tax return--The Gov. And Mrs. Romney  have released enough financial data to keep accountants busy till after the election--a complete 2011 tax return as well as their already completed 2010 tax return.  On top of all that, Gov. Romney has released nine financial disclosures since 2002, which are also posted on his site. There are 3 federal Public Financial Disclosures (from 2007, 2011, and 2012), and 6 Massachusetts Statements of Financial Interests (from 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007).

He also posted is a letter from the Romneys' tax preparer, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, which gives an overview of the Romneys' tax returns covering an additional 20 years, from 1990-2009.

What’s going on with the Polls?

The Democrats want to convince [these anti-Obama voters] falsely that Romney will lose to discourage them from voting. So they lobby the pollsters to weight their surveys to emulate the 2008 Democrat-heavy models. They are lobbying them now to affect early voting. IVR (Interactive Voice Response) polls are heavily weighted. You can weight to whatever result you want. Some polls have included sizable segments of voters who say they are “not enthusiastic” to vote or non voters to dilute Republicans. Major pollsters have samples with Republican affiliation in the 20 to 30 percent range, at such low levels not seen since the 1960s in states like Virginia, Florida, North Carolina and which then place Obama ahead.

Always look at the demographics of any poll before you decide how accurate it is.  I do and generally, BHO is getting 3 to 4 percent less than the lead given them with the skewed percentage of Democrats in the poll.  This means the unaffiliated are voting heavily for Romney and that is what is going to be the difference in this election.  It also means Romney is 4 to 5 percent ahead right now.

Obama going for a permanent underclass

The Obama redistributionist audio shows Obama talking about building a winning electoral coalition including welfare recipients and the working poor.  Now the left spoke of Mitch McConnell saying the number one goal was to make Obama a one term president as proof the Republicans kept Obama from succeeding.   But if he is looking to make more welfare recipients it appears Obama has succeeded beyond his wildest imagination.  What’s good for Obama is bad for the country. 

Obama has replaced “Change”

I suppose in place of change from the “inside,” he now envisions more “outside” executive orders like the de facto Dream Act, having the EPA shut down more coal plants, stopping more federal energy leases, granting more recess appointments, and extending more executive privilege. 

Do you think he means you have to ignore the Congress and the Constitution?  I’m worried that is exactly what he means.

Elizabeth Warren not licensed to practice law in Massachusetts

As detailed below, there are at least two provisions of Massachusetts law Warren may have violated.  First, on a regular and continuing basis she used her Cambridge office for the practice of law without being licensed in Massachusetts.  Second, in addition to operating an office for the practice of law without being licensed in Massachusetts, Warren actually practiced law in Massachusetts without being licensed.

This could be a problem for her in the next three debates with Scott Brown.  Not an Indian anywhere and not a lawyer in Massachusetts.

There’s a new movie critiquing the public schools system as it exists today which appears to be very powerful and it attracting attention of some very powerful opponents.  In view of the Chicago Teachers strike last week it appears this movie is very timely.

Gallup:  Unemployment in August not likely to improve

The BLM’s July unadjusted unemployment rate was 8.7% last month.  Gallup is expecting the that number to remain the same or go up in August.

CBO: Under Current Law, Unemployment Will Rise Next Year to 9.1%

Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is projecting that if changes in federal taxing-and-spending policies already enacted and set to take effect at the beginning of next year do in fact take place, the unemployment rate will climb to 9.1 percent.

Democrats split, but put God and Jerusalem back into Party Platform

Having taken out of the Democratic Platform any mention of God and the acknowledgement of Jerusalem being Israel’s capital, the Democrats did an about face as it became an issue.  But it took three votes to get the approval and many in the audience booed the decision.

This is turning out to be a festering sore for the Democratic Party.  When they tried to change the platform it appeared the chairman ramrodded the changes through.  This vote brought to mind the 1930s as the idea of putting Jerusalem back in the platform as the Capital of Israel was supported by no more than half the delegates (and probably not even half).  There were boos after the chairman said it carried.

But as a Republican it is fun to watch the Democrats start coming apart.

Featured Steelworker at DNC didn’t actually work for Bain

“DavidFoster was never an employee of GST Steel’s Kansas City plant. He was employed by the United Steelworkers of America as their regional union director to represent GST Steel, but was not employed at our facility,”   But he was a speaker at the DNC passing himself off as a former Bain employee.  

From his speech:  In 2001, with GST bankrupt and Romney still CEO of Bain, I stood in front of hundreds of steelworkers in their 50s and 60s, and retirees in their 70s and 80s, and told them Romney and Bain had broken their promises. Jobs, vacation pay, severance, health insurance and pension benefits that were promised—they were all gone.

Except Romney was no longer at Bain Capital.  He was busy saving the Winter Olympics and had been there for over two years at this time.

Woodward’s latest book reveals Obama’s deal breaker

Bob Woodward’s new book, The Price of Power, is coming out September 11 and that timing is not good for Obama.  Woodward details out the negotiations between Obama and Boehner who came up with a deal to reduce the deficit only to have President Obama insist on increasing the new taxes by 50%.  That was a deal breaker and Boehner went to his plan B which kept the government from defaulting on its debt.  Obama did not have a plan B and it was Boehner and Reid who kept the government out of default. 

From the write up it appears Obama doesn’t like the Republicans in congress or the Democrats and the feeling appears to be mutual.  He relates the story of inviting Paul Ryan to an address he was making where he tore Ryan’s budget apart.  Ryan related to one of the Whitehouse staff “I can’t believe you poisoned the well like that.”  It appears Bill Clinton was right when he called Obama an Amateur.

As for Obama putting out an open hand to try to get the Republicans on board that appears to be left wing spin.  On his first day in office, Obama sent a message to congress telling them he wanted a stimulus of between $800 billion and $1.3 trillion.  It was well received by both parties who were serious in their desire to work with the President on this.  Three days later, Obama invited the congressional delegates to the White House and basically rejected all the Republicans proposals.  Woodward says as if to almost rub it in, Obama told Eric Cantor, “Elections have consequences.  And Eric, I won.”

Cantor told Woodward he was “surprised how badly the White House had played what should have been a winning hand.  Though Obama won the vote, he had unified and energized the losers.”

DNC viewership down

While Michelle Obama was praised by the media, viewership was down significantly from 2008 and Ann Romney actually had400,000 more viewers than did the first lady. 

DWS refuses to apologize after being caught in a lie

Rep.Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) told the Washington Free Beacon Wednesday evening that she will not be apologizing to Washington Examiner reporter Philip Klein after she falsely accused him of “deliberately misquoting” her.

Whatever happened to Climate Change as a political issue?

The whole Climate Change “issue” seems to have slipped away from the left.  In the first two days of the Democratic National Convention, it was mentioned only once in 80 speeches.

Democrats and abortion

Why has the party removed the sentence “Abortionshould be safe, legal, and rare” from its platform? It was in the 2004 document but not in 2008’s or this year’s. Can’t Democrats just throw a crumb to the many millions who are pro-choice but not pro-abortion?
